Sadly it was this guy in his office in DC and he clearly still wasn't getting it. His Northeastern State University degree isn't quite ivy league although I unstandard even ivy leaguers have issues understanding too.

I assumed it was the OP being sorry for being so drunk they couldn't go home the night before.

Obviously the correct response is somewhere between the two. I'd always try and offer my couch (as long as they weren't being a douche) but at the same time I'd pretty much never let myself get into that situation.
