do we need a visa to go there? Or can we just rent an apartment and leave/comeback every 3 months?

Big thread on this topic here: http://www.poker-red.com/foros/poker...del-juego.html but my Spanish is beyond rusty so it's hard for me to get something out of it. If someone could post cliffs that would be fantastic.

Ah thanks, I thought "wait, isn't there a Spanish forum on 2+2?" a few hours ago Not there, but almost so. So the OP is saying that the rake might double but that the Spanish should still be able to play on .com's which have an agreement with the Spanish government. Ah well, that's one long thread, voy a practicar mi espanol, urgh.

the majority of American poker players I know are looking for a place to relocate that is very close to the lifestyle they have lived at home. They want to go somewhere clean with food they are used to, where things move extremely smoothly. I think a lot of people who do this for a living are not very adventerous and do not want to go somewhere they will feel outside their comfort zone.

I wouldnt recommend India as a travel destination for most americna poker players, much less a place to live. Again, this is not me saying I dont like India, etc, I have been their twice and plan on going back again within the next year.

Goa in particular would not be that awesome a place to live. Its a great place to go for a few weeks and living on the beach is amazing, but permenently being in a place that is all about partying would get really old. It would be like living in Cancun, but with a huge population of burnt out hippies and Russian mafia. While it would get fairly quite during hte off season, I think their are certainly other beach destinations that would be way more awesome to live

In addition to this, online poker is not totally legal in India and withdrawing isnt as easy as other places.

Right now I am in Canada and think it is a very good option for many poker players. People are extremely friendly, have a seemingly positive reaction to people from the US and everything is very similar to life in Amuuurica.

Also, id imagine that in the major cities there will soon be a large comm of poker players so there will be other people in a similar situation.

For people who want something completely new and different there are 100s of wonderful places and India certainly falls in that category.

@smokrok - Can you comment on what you did to get setup in Canada? Are you living on a visa currently? Any information you can provide concerning establishing temporary residency would be appreciated. I've looked into taking French courses at a university, but I'm not sure how many credit hours are required to obtain a student visa. Thanks.

us citizens can stay in canada for 6 months with no visa. just get an apartment and get on a plane!

i suggest getting a place that does not have utilities included so you have a bill to send the poker sites.

Thanks for the eloborate reply smokrok. Canada was my first choice when all this happened, def a great choice. My only beef with it is the weather during the winter, but maybe ill move there from july to november/december when it starts to get ****ty. I also didnt realize you could live there for 6months with no visa. Whats ur plan when the 6months end? u think u can come back to usa for a week and then go back to canada for 6months again? how strict do u think they are with that?

It's 6 months for any one year period, so if you stay in Canada for 6 months you then have to leave for 6 months before you can return.

Honestly I think they are more strict about visas and immigration stuff than just about anywhere. I think on return you would have a ton of trouble getting back into the country.

Basically people just dont believe someone my age is coming here for tourism because its not common at all, and they were suspicious enough of me at customs the first time around that I do not really get the feeling that Id be able to reenter very easily.

I am in Toronto right now, and while I have not done much since being here (I have been grinding heaps), I really like the feel of the city and my neighborhood. I knew very little about Toronto before getting here and was fairly surprised how much of an international city it is. There is a huge range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I live in North York, which is on the outskirts of the city, and my neighborhood has a ton of young professional types.

I am from nyc and its a fairly huge cultural shock how friendly/kind everyone regularly is here.

Cool, I live downtown Toronto and yes it's one of (if not) the most ethnically diverse cities in the world. Are you planning on staying here for good or are you going to check out Vancouver, Montreal... others as well before picking one? Good luck with it all

also by this did not actually mean anywhere, just in terms of the countries being considered by poker players. As others have mentioned, they actually care what ur doing here.

Stay in the US! I have found some pretty sweet deals out there on poker sites still catering to US players. I'm actually profiting more now then I was grinding on Stars... not sure how long it will last though. Customer Support sucks sometimes to, but its a good stop gap till hopefully the US legalizes online poker.

PM me if you want information. I'm not trying to post an ad since I know thats frowned upon, but I can recommend a pretty sweet deal to anyone interested.
