Didn't see another thread for this around so I figured I might as well spark one up. Anyone else going? Heard anything about the snow conditions this year?

Also, I'm planning on doing some sort of few day - 2 week trek type of thing in Switzerland after the event, if anyone is interested in that sorta thing. If anyone knows of any good routes in Switzerland, a PM would be much appreciated.

Otherwise, should be a pretty sweet, unique tournament venue. Get excited!

I won a seat in a VIP FPP supersatelite, so I will be there. Not like the nearest tournament for me, but sounds like a fun venue.

Snow conditions are not that good - 40-75cm now. Especially in late March u have to be very lucky with the Snow conditions there.

I had same problem, but then I saw the reason my roundtrip airfare was so expensive, was because flying back on a saturday (i think) was like 300 more than flying back on a sunday. Just make sure to check the individual flight costs and pick the cheapest days, then it becomes relatively affordable.

The money they give you doesn't cover the trip from the US. I may fly into Munich (which is a couple of hours by train or bus from Salzburg). All the flights to Salzburg from NY seem to involve 2 stops and changes. Plus it might be nice to check out Munich and probably a scenic train trip to Salzburg. You could also consider flying into Vienna and spending some time there.

im there, too

interesting info:
Saalbach/Hinterglemm has no trainstation...
you have to go to "zell am see" and then via bus (drives once an hour) or taxi to saalbach/hinterglemm

when u go to munich and then by train check: http://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml (munich airport)

for salzburg (airport):
http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp

so its like
flying to Munich/Salzburg -> train to Zell am See -> Taxi/Bus to Saalbachh/ Hinterglemm

fwiw I think there's a bus from Salzburg to Saalbach-Hinterglemm, should take 2-3hrs. At least a friend took it once, and it's not quicker to take a train / trains to Zell am See and then a bus from there to Saalbach.

Also some hotels in Saalbach-Hinterglemm might offer shuttle service for Salzburg Airport imo.

I think the hotel having the tournament has shuttle service from Salzburg airport. I am not sure if that was on the hotel's site or Poker Stars' site.

Yea I'm pretty sure pokerstars packages provide transportation to and from salzburg airport for up to 2 people.

Hi All,

An important note to everyone. The hotels for Snowfest are filling up quickly. The 5 Star hotel where the event is being held has already sold out.

Anyone who is planning on coming should look to get their hotel rooms sorted ASAP!

You can look at some of the surrounding hotels here... http://www.epthotels.com/city.asp?id=1&idc=16&snowfest

PokerStars has now stopped running packages that include hotel with the exception of the last 10K FPP Sat.

This event has 25 tables so we have a cap of 500 players. 250 on Day 1A and 250 on Day 1B.

You can find additional travel information for the event here... http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tou...nowfest/about/

See everyone there, should be an amazing event! It will be a great relaxing warmup for the insanity of April - NAPT Mohegan Sun (700+ players), then EPT San Remo (1,100+ players) , then EPT Monte Carlo (900+ players)!!!

Cheers,

99% coming? Mostly will be skiing and playing some smaller sides.

If anyone there wants to hit some slopes, let me know.

bump
imo the schedule looks kinda weak and i would love to see a highrollers tournament added to the schedule (maybe on day 4 or 5 of the main event?)
obv i know that the alpine casino has a very limited amount of tables but if u do some minor changes to your schedule u should be able to fit in an extra highrollers event somehow
like u could just play 1 more level on day 2/3 and that might just be enough to have enough room for an extra tourament
or u could just remove event 6 (the 500 1r) from ur schedule
as you know the alpine palace hosts the highest cashgames of every german speaking country
so obv most people who live in saalbach are like super wealhy and wouldnt mind spending 10k or possibly even more on a poker tournament

also since the buy in for the mainevent is so low and like everything in saalbach is ridic expensive ept snowfest just doesnt look very attractive to the ept regulars
so if someone (neil?!) reads this
how about adding a 10k highrollers to the schedule just like u did for berlin?

Or you could go skiing for the day?

I'm still thinking of going to this so anyone I know that is going or might want to go let me know.

well my plan is to win the mainevent so i wont have time for skiing/the highrollers anyway
srsly tho other than the lack of space/tables there no reason not to have a highroller event
im pretty sure it would get a decent sized field and probably one of the weakest of any ept highroller tournament ever
so how can u blame me for trying to get this tournament going?if u would rather go skiing u can go skiing but honestly i would rather play as much poker for as much money as possible when im at a place like this.... where random rich peope are just throwing money around
im pretty sure everyone underestimates just how sick balla this place is
and just how much money there is just waiting to be won in cashgames
guess my point is
u can go skiing whenever u want but when do u get to play the chance to play some drooling rich ******s for a lot of money? not that often

In Germany we weren't allowed to wire in Euros to play the cash games (German Law)

Does anyone know if this is the same law in Austria? Can we wire funds to Alpine palace for use in the cash games?

Cheers

Try http://www.alpinepalace-poker.com/bi...T_Snowfest.pdf and going from there?

There's mention of cash games in April: http://www.alpinepalace-poker.com/bi...st_Deutsch.pdf (page 7 on PDF), maybe that would give more details as well for the EPT Snowfest.

Hi All,

I am sitting at the airport right now. I have sent off an email to get some of the answers for you and I'll post them as soon as I have them confirmed.

Justluck - As for a High Roller, I will see what I can do. The really ironic part is Inyaface is correct, we want the players to have the opportunity for really amazing skiing

The San Remo Schedule - 15 Events - (http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tournaments/sanremo/) and the Monaco Schedule - 20+ Events - (which should release this week) are very full!

Cheers all...if you don't hear from me again it means I have decided never to come back from the beaches of Sharm el Sheikh

Well I actually can't go skiing any time I want and I can play rich ******s for lots of money any time I want. I also guess we have a different definition of "a lot of money". The good news is since you are going to be winning the EPT anyways you won't have time to do things that are fun/don't involve playing poker but that probably isn't to out of line for you.

This is more of a vacation. If the original buy in was higher, and there was a cheaper/less annoying way to attend, then I would. Also, it's right smack dab in the middle of March madness which I will not be missing.
