wow season 2 of breaking bad is so much better than the first, its not even close. if anyone is gonna start watching this just skip the first season.

Well, don't do this. But just don't give up during the first season. I still thought the first season was very good, but agree that season 2 was better. And season 3 was better than 2. And 4 is probably better than 3, although that might be recency bias talking.

Spoiler:
The whole carwash thing almost made me lose interest in season 3, plus there were other elements like Hank's shooting that seemed really contrived. Season 4 is just killing it though so I'm delighted I didn't give up.

Well, I mean, speaking of contrived, Season 4 has Ted's death. And I didn't mind the Hank shooting. And the carwash turned out to be pretty central to Season 4! So you can't hate it on that much. I dunno, I just remember Season 3, for me, being the first time that I was really like "Wow this show might be the best show," just for it's ability to sustain such high levels of tension for unbearable amounts of time. Can't be bothered to go find specific examples, and again, it might just be that I'm continually impressed by the show so that most recent thing I've seen is always the best yet, but I've just felt like the show keeps getting better.

Gonna have to snap watch rest of season 3 and 4 to catch up with all this discussion! Definitely agree that starting at season 2 is silly though. Season 1 is great in its own right and necessary for the proper introduction to the series imo.

season 1 is really good, it's a unique concept and enjoyable. I think alot of series 2 & 3 is dull with some great highlights, but way too much filler, season 4 is where it steps up to be one of the best shows around tho.
