Want to taste some fantastic American micros? Come to western Montana. My favorite single brew is Cold Smoke from Kettlehouse Brewing - a delicious Scotch-style that's much better on the tap than in the cans it's distributed in. My favorite all-around brewer is Bayern, which only brews in the traditional Bavarian style, so if you're a hop-head, it's not your style, but if you like a traditional German brew, it's hard to beat.

Europe has a much more longstanding tradition of brewing, they should be putting out more and better beers. However, the US has certainly stepped up their game in regards to brewing good beer. The microbrew movement was the best thing to happen to American beer. Tons of great brews in many different forms now a days. Practically all I drink, aside from Guinness (which prob isn't as good in the states).
