This is exactly what I think....have been posting in the 'PokerStars Sit & Go Changes: Effective May 6th, 2011' , Internet Poker forum which PS steve reads
Be great if those who agree would post there. Probably only chance of getting an intermediate level for a while.
I've suggested something like $2.50, $5's or $6's, $12's, $20's or say $2.5, $5.5, $9, $15, etc etc - both work for former $12 grinders, sure the proposed $5's would only steal from huge numbers of $2.5's!
It seems that all the former $12 grinders are more than happy playing both $8's and $15's for a ABI of, wait for it, $12! Always seems to have the same numbers running and same faces at the tables.
The micro/low guys are stuck with effectively one level, needing close wins to bankroll up to $8's, where they better maintain cashing or they're back to $2.50.

We know the numbers, know who plays what levels and know the impact the 180 man variance has when you try to move through the levels and need to ca$h out some on the way.
Pokerstars should split the 180 punters and the comments made in this thread into 3 distinct bandings when reviewing the 180 SNG's, just for review purposes
Micro/Low - ABI $6 and below
Mid - ABI $6 - $14
High - ABI $14+
If I want ABI of $3 - $6, it's impossible to get to play more than average 10 tables from 3am - 4pm (i.e. $8's wont get more than 10 running for half the day) The $2.50's will have 15 min running 24 hours a day, probably 40 at peak. Kinda shows that there might be enough volume to spread to a $5 or $6 BI level = higher hourly = good for everyone. Also indicates that $2.50 grinders only loading the odd $8 game, if they load them at all.
Your 'mid' ABI's is limited to play 8 to 12 tables off peak ($8's & $15's) as they wont slum it in the $2's....they'd probably include $6's in the grind off peak, if available. They also include the $3+r, also with ABI of c. $9. Hey, you guys have 3 different 180's to grind. MBN!
The 'high' guys will play all $15's and the whole 3(?) $35's that run every day. Probably find themselves having to play the $8's to get say 24 tables running. They might even benefit from the $35 being dropped to a say $25 which more 'mid' guys may have the occasional shot at = more running = higher hourly
The current 180's just limit the micro/low level which is where you want up all the fish to move up from
