I can't speak for LBK (or shen for that matter) but I doubt I'm going any further than turbo MTTs if I do transition and I'm certainly never playing solely MTTs for a living, **** that variance, I don't want to have 6 month breakeven stretches... I'm pretty sure when LBK is making at least 100k a year playing admittedly IDK how many hours per week, there's no rush for him to transition anywhere

You could
Grind MTTs and 180s
Grind 180s during the week and play mtts on sunday
Grind MTTs and 180s, if you hit a rough downswing go back to 180s for a while
Get backed for MTTs, grind 180s on your own

etc etc

Has it been proved anywhere that MTTs actually have higher attainable hourlies (at roughly the same stakes)? Plus if I were going to get backed for MTTs I might as well just stick with 180s, since I'm giving up some of my hourly.

The other thing I hate is that you have to have a solid length MTT session if you're going to play one, I can't imagine anything worse than playing the same tournament for double figured hours in order to ft bubble or something.

At rougly the same stakes?
Every decent player can def sustain a 100% roi in eg 11$ Freezeouts.

Yeah sure, there are pros and cons and I have nothing against you sickos staying at the 180s forever.

You actually have to think playing mtts, so not a whole lot of the 180s guys could make good money there.

Thank you guys one more time.

I think that Rowniwn and Camzace are both right. It really depends on person and goals. Staying in 180s is very comprotable place to be and you have much less headache about swings etc. But its always possible to learn and play same time other things as well and maybe you can find something better for yourself.

Personally, im not sure what kind of plans i have and im gonna think about it more seriously in December.

I mean srsly did you see the 180s guys play in the first blindlevels it`s hilarious, shoving 75bb over 3x. Ofc there are some players who will do pretty well in mtts(mostly the topregs) but the mid-bottomregs will prolly beat mtts with a smallwinrate and life will be terrible with that variance.

lol yeah +1000 that so many 180 regs will be so marginal in higher mtt fields esp with deeper stacks and so on. not saying they would lose or whatever but i mean yes postflop is a street that is unfamiliar to a lot

You realize that it's a learning process? Give someone who is able to 40 table 10 hours a day a month and he'll learn enough to easily beat something like regspeed smallstakes and he can easily go from there.
Btw most top 180regs (and I obv don't mean me) are already mixing in or completely switched over to mtts.

Last edited by Rowniwn; 11-17-2011 at 12:34 AM. Reason: and obv most of the 180 regs wont be really succesful, the same as most pokerplayers in general wont be really succesful.

Pretty sure if I were to jam 75bb over a 3x its not because I can't play postflop, its because I think there's more value in it, not saying this is everyone's thought process but you can't totally rag on someone for it

Also I'd love to know your screenname nisash1337

his screenname is SuCcEeD1337

and why not jamming 75bb in first levels if there is at least someone who will call off with way worse hands like KJ a4 or even 23o.

MTT's > 180's, or both at the same time. But i too hate long sessions so i doubt ill fully switch to MTT's, too much heartbreak.

All down to personal choice.

Congrats LBK too, pretty solid work.

Well it`s easier to play longer MTT-sessions than playing 180ssessions.

I might switch in the beginning of 2011 again and do something like 50/50 to reduce the variance.
