Judging by what you've provided, you may be beyond helping musically.

TBH I usually grind to Howard Stern or podcasts, but if I'm out of those I'll listen to old Beastie Boys, Propagandhi, The Black Keys, NOFX, Between the Buried and Me, Comeback Kid, Clouds, At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta, Misery Signals, etc.

Some of it is hard to listen to for most people but jesus, anythings better than Theory of a Deadman.

I find this shocking tbh. Thought it would be cheesy and annoying like most of the romantic comedies that come out nowadays.

For me anyway, I take "etc." here to mean a bunch of other bands I've never heard of.

Is there any consistent position that justifies the idea that some songs/bands/genres are better than other songs/bands/genres?

We'll all be filled with pride looking back in years to come on how we participated in the internet thread the finally figured out the answers to all of the questions that have vexed mankind through the ages.

TYTY for the sweats guys.
I pretty much cruised the whole tourney until it got down to 17 people and lost 3 huge all ins with like 80, 65 and 40% ev which would have put me 2-3rd in chips. All 3 of my friends in the tourney had big stacks and busted between 18-14th to which was super lame but overall Aruba is the **** and I just wish I had more time to do non poker stuff there.

Also my horse/good friend chopped the 2k 6m there 3 handed for 29k or something when he was the shortest stack. He should have been HU with a massive chip lead but kept getting binked but it was still a sweet way to end the trip. Also due to busting the main event and ordering 16 shots with dinner and about 1/2 for me I got to rail while I was about a 6 out of 10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wTCoa0QQ6Y

Zombieland was pretty good, I was skeptical but lots of sites like rottentomatoes gave it great reviews and yes that brunette lead is super cute.

Yes and yes. I think they have a deal for the whole series for like 100 bucks or maybe less. It's awesome

oooh oh pick me I'm a physics geek!

Firstly, that's not quite a law of physics. There is the whole e = mc^2 thing. This means that a system that emits any energy must lose mass, the equivalent amount of mass is just ridiculously small and usually not measurable. So anything emitting light or heat, any chemical reaction, and any nuclear interaction has an associated change in mass. But with energy and mass being equivalent, the conservation of energy law can be extended to the conservation of "mass-energy".

I haven't studied cosmology in detail, so I will just make things up as I go. What I did learn about the big bang theory was basically that it just states that everything started at a single point, and doesn't really give a good reason why. Whether or not time and space existed before the big bang is up for debate, but it's not really in the realm of science - since anything that did exist previously can have no causal effect on anything that happened after the big bang.

Like castlebravo mentioned it's possible for particles to be created out of nothing in a vacuum. This is because on the quantum scale (really small) quantities like time and energy are not exact (heisenberg uncertainty principle). This doesn't mean we just can't measure things accurately - it is a fundamental property of the universe. It is physically impossible for a system to remain at an exact energy over a period of time. So even the "zero energy" of a vacuum actually consists of energy fluctuations. Energy is equivalent to mass and so these fluctuations actually consist of "virtual particles" being created, which exist for only very short times.

On a larger scale the particles created in a vacuum shouldn't break conservation of mass-energy. I'm not sure how related discussing particles created in a vacuum is to the big bang. But in the big bang I think something weird happened after enough particles were created that caused a phase change in the system, causing it to undergo rapid inflation. There is also some sort of break in symmetry between the matter / anti-matter that was being created, but I don't really understand all that stuff, just that we ended up with more matter than anti-matter (and if we didn't we would have prob just reversed the naming convention).

Re grinding music, I learnt from 2m2mm that you should be a ball of rage when playing online poker (Suzzer probably could have told me this years ago) so I've been listening to Rage, Rage. It turns out to be an excellent grinding album, highly recommended.

Are people really typing about the origins of the universe itt?

For those interested in creation stuff, big bang, etc....you should read Blasphemy by Douglas Preston. I listened to it on CD while driving cross country. Particle accelerators, big bangs, religious kooks, murder, etc itb.
