Hi guys, longtime lurker, but been around for a while. I recently started playing DON tournaments on Stars, and like them alot, got me thinking of a new MTT idea for the online sites, please let me know what you think, and if you like it, WRITE STARS in support. Below is my email to them.

Hi Pokerstars,

First of all, I want to congratulate you on having the best poker site on the net. I applaud the new types of games and structures you are bringing to the poker community everyday. I've recently started playing the DON SNGs and actually like them alot, I love survival tournaments! That made me think of a new idea for MTT, what about MTTs where the total prizepool was chopped evenly between the top 20, 10, 5, or even 1%, you can call them "Chopper" tournaments. The end game is all about luck anyway, and I think this would attract MTTs who want to have less variance. Also, a cash is actually worth something because it can be at least 5x the buy in. Finally, you get a sense of satisfaction by just making the money because you've won the most money possible from the tournament, and dont feel that "If only that hand had gone differently I could have made sooo much more money" feeling. Please, this is a serious idea, and I would love it if you considered it. Please let me know what you think. Thanks again.

What do people think? I was recently playing in a WSOP Circuit event in Hammond (awesome event) and when we were down to 27 players in a 500 person, $500 buy in, someone yelled out, "Lets do a chop now, its almost $10K a piece!"....granted, there were some super big stacks in the room, but think about it, so much of the end game is luck with the shoves and the suckouts and the races, I would have more than happy to do it. Anyway, I've been working all night, so Im a little delirious, but maybe this is something we can jump on. Let me know what you all think, and I'll even take the flames for it, just want to see what the general consensus is.

I dont like the idea, but thats just me, I dont like the DoNs very much either, all I need to be happy is having all the 180s on the TOP of the regular tourney lobby, DAMNIT!

These tournaments already exist you can find them under the 'satellites' tab.

Sounds pretty pointless, play for like 3 hours and get like 5x your stake back, doubt many people will like it tbh.

Mabye in turbo tournies, but that is a very big generalization.

I do not think it will work... Nothing like coming in first or second and winning like 100x what u bought in for... I do not think people will go for it.

It might be possible to do that for 18-54 SNG MTT... but that's about the largest I think it would get.

Again what i was thinking im afraid. I personally don't like the idea and would probably not play them if they existed. PLaying for 3 hours for 6 or 7 buy-ins or whatever does seem to really suck the fun out of it.

Obviously the idea is terrible for anyone who believes they are better than the majority of the field. Too be fair though, you would cut a substantial amount off the total tournament time as you would only have to play until the cutoff point.

A thoughtful fish (is there such a beast?) might like it, but definitely not a good thing for any of us.

This is not an efficient conversion of time into money. Why play for a million hours to win 5 or 6 buy-ins? I do play satellites from time to time (+1 to those saying look there) as in essence, this is what this is.

Why don't you just play 10 DONs at the same time. Win 6 and you're +, 7 and your ROI is 34.6%, 8 and your ROI is 53.8% (2 1/2 buy-ins, 20% of the time). This is achievable in a short space of time.
