In a recent "The Scoop" segment on CardPlayer TV Jack Effel was asked about expanding the PAC to include a new breed of players, perhaps more online players. He responded with saying that is something they are looking into possibly doing after 2010.

Who would you nominate?

Interesting question. First I'd like to put forward the criteria which should be considered IMO (and some which should not).

I think you'd have to look for someone with good people skills (it's a committee where you're going to have to work with people towards a consensus). They would have to have enough status to earn at least some respect from the names already on the committee (whether that comes through live results or whatever).

I'd prefer it wasn't a sponsored player, as there are plenty of them on the committee already and I think there should be more input from people who are fronting their own buyins. Which leads to the question of backed players ? Or even prominent backers ? Would they be a good addition ? There are enough people playing the WSOP backed that I think they deserve representation.

And without naming names (although I'm sure you can guess), I don't think it should be one of the "professional complainers" who would rather complain about structures ad infinitum rather than adapt their game. Someone reasonable and intelligent who is capable of seeing both positive and negative effects of changes.

Names ? I don't know a lot of the prominent online players well enough as people to make a massive contribution here, but from what I know of them I think shaniac would be great and sheets would be the obvious choice as a backer. Maybe Haralabos if he would be interested.

Seriously LOL @ the WSOP on this. This has been an issue for many years now, and they've done absolutely nothing about it. They might possibly look into it after this year? Unless they're planning on bringing in quite a few people and kicking out quite a few people, it's doubtful that any meaningful change will come of this.

Let the online sites have their own committee instead of having their pros purport to represent the interests of the players. Or at the very least limit each major site to 1 player on the PAC.

Because that way you don't have to actually do anything different ... but you can appease the people who want new faces / change.
