I'm sure this has been discussed many times, you can direct me to a thread or some simple answers would be even better. Say you buyin $300 at a live tournament and cash 5k, what would a poker pro's standard tip right here be? I'm truly lost in this subject because I've seen it range from $20 to $500, everyyything in between. So what is fair? It can't be a percentage thing, because what if the prize pool is heaps

$0.

Would you tip a Mcdonalds staff member for doing their job and giving you a hamburger. Would you go and tip a shoestore worker when they sell you shoes?

more than 0 if you feel it warranted, up to you. i've tipped the last 2 digits of biggish scores in the past when i felt like it. 79 on a 19,679 for example, not much at all but ive also tipped 0 if i wasn't overly pleased with how the tournament was run. i guess what you have to do is be a human being and make a decision for yourself.

Lol really 0? I've never not tipped unless it was a min cash. And I normally connect with the tournament directors, so sometimes I feel obligated to leave a decent tip. I always felt like it was a scumbag move to not tip but you guys are right in the sense that they are already raping you in rake, EVERY live tourney

Depends on the casino, how regularly you play there, and the quality of the service provided. The rio for example which is below average in quality and rakes more than the industry standard, i think many agree they dont deserve extra tip even for winning a bracelet. On the other hand, if ur a reg at a well-run casino such as borgata in my case, and youre friendly with staff, id tip exceptionally well (i tipped 1k on a 90k score). Dont forget that youre never actually not tipping as a tip is already included when you buy in. I also find it annoying and unprofessional for staff to guilt trip customers into tipping extra and would actually make me less likely to tip.
