I don't think they deserve huge props. Yes, they have done the right thing, but it should never have come to this. For them to take their initial stance is riduclous given how clearly it was advertised. To sign off with the phrase "Thank you for understanding" is incredibly arrogant. Mistake or not, it is clearly false advertising and to deny OP the winnings is nothing short of a scam.

You clearly have no idea how business works. This is not a simple human mistake, it shows the whole new identity stars is representing.

Shame on the veteran posters saying huge props. Is this not angle shooting? Many players wouldn't have gone to the lengths OP did to rectify the payout. Also, only after multiple escalating attempts did they pay up. On average, they were attempting to reduce costs on this tourney. They did, till it became -ev to their brand to continue. It's like lending money to a friend, it's fine, but they'll often forget, sometimes you will too/chasing after it is a cost itself, and your never gonna get paid more than your owed to make up for the other -ev aspects

Glad OP got his money and Stars didn't pay him out of any goodness of heart or realizing they made a mistake. They did it because the cost wasn't as high as the damage. Purely a business decision just like the decision to not pay him in the first place was a business decision as he hadn't started going public the way he did. Morals like right and wrong never entered the equation.

This may be overly philosophical but I'd argue that every decision in life is like this, whether business or personal. With business it's just a matter of having proper organization and vision to make the correct calculation. Stars may have initially estimated the damage as negligible, then changed their outlook after this thread took off. A smarter company may have anticipated this reaction and avoided the bad PR altogether. Or perhaps poor management lead to an unqualified employee making this decision. A well organized company would have gotten this to the right people immediately.

People seem to attach a negative connotation to motive. Every action good or bad has a motive. Things like helping a stranger or giving to charity are done to feel good about yourself, brighten your day, relieve guilt, etc. Stars didn't show us they were "bad" or "immoral", they just showed short-sightedness and/or poor business sense.

No company in the world bites your hand off and pays out the difference in situations like this. yes, they put up a couple of barriers but OP persevered and got the money. I think PS's handled it ok

Can we just agree that some amount of props are in order? Let's comprimise: mild amounts of props in order

Should we cut the tongue out of the teacher who taught you how to spell? Or maybe just cut of your own fingers?

A situation get resolved in the player's favour and yet you still want to complain and make a horrible inhuman suggestion. Must be nice to be able to hide behind your keyboard.
