Second level of a $2+$0.2 on stars, i 1.5x upp after some donk paid me off, i get moved to a new table, fold a few orbits and get Q9s and decide to limp and i get 1 more limper, the SB and the BB, the villan in this hand has a VP$IP of 36% in a sample size of about 30 hands.

Poker Stars $2.00+$0.20 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t25/t50 Blinds - 9 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

SB: t3165 63.30 BBs
BB: t5894 117.88 BBs
UTG: t1950 39 BBs
UTG+1: t1125 22.50 BBs
Hero (UTG+2): t4725 94.50 BBs
MP1: t1561 31.22 BBs
MP2: t3685 73.70 BBs
CO: t2620 52.40 BBs
BTN: t2815 56.30 BBs

Pre Flop: (t75) Hero is UTG+2 with Q 9
2 folds, Hero calls t50, 1 fold, MP2 calls t50, 2 folds, SB calls t25, BB checks

Flop: (t200) 4 2 K (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets t100, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls t100

Turn: (t400) J (2 players)
Hero bets t180, MP2 calls t180

River: (t760) 7 (2 players)
Hero bets t375, MP2 calls t375

Final Pot: t1510

On the turn i decided to bet the J to disguise my hand a little and not get an insta-fold the second the flush hits, if it does, he calls so all good. In the river i decide to bet half pot i do this thinking the following: he could have bet the flop with anything since he was last to act and was checked to him, but to call the turn he definitely had some piece of that board, A6, Kx, Jx and will probably call a small bet even with the possible flush. It never crossed my mind that he would have a flush draw even though i did rationalize that i was ahead of any flush but the nut.

Could i have extracted more value? Is he just a freak for not re-raising with the 3rd nuts?

for future i wouldn't post the results of the hands, espically villians hand there u might get biased answers, the 7 of hearts completes only one draw, so if he is callin the turn bet, he will prolly give a call to the river bet also, unless he is 100% scared of the flush draw that just hit, so i would bet a little bit more like 500-600 on the river, since he is folding to any bet if he doesn't like the flush and he is callin any bet if he doesn't worry about the flush, there are two st8 draws he could be calling on the turn, but no st8 gets hit on the river w/ the 7h so again villian wont be calling any bet on the river if he missed the st8 also,

very few flops are gonna hit you where u feel u have the nuts and if u hit those flops ur prolly not gonna get much action at all, most of the tim ur gonna hit a marginal middle pair, or top pair w/ weak kicker in a multiway pot super early in the tourny

So would you suggest other hands such as 76s , 78s , PPs, or simply just play top hands early in a tourney?

i see what you mean, UTG is prolly not the best position to limp but most of the times from what ive seen in the early stages of these torunaments ppl even with hands like AJ just limp behind. Also when im playing these hands im only looking for 2 pair or better or a draw, id throw away middle pair and be very careful with TP.

pre is indeed spew like everyone is saying. you're burning chips when u miss and often paying off when u hit a Q. I don't hate the turn bet, although you're going to hate life if u get raised. Once u decide to bet, I like your sizing.

I like a min-raise pre, clears out some trash. Check the turn, what are you trying to represent with that bet?

I hate the way u played the hand. U don't need to play tricky on these stakes. Turn bet is awful because he's calling with all his range except floats which is super unlikely in these stakes. Secondly, if ur disguising ur hand it should be when completed bet as much as possible. Thirdly, fold pre plz.
