hey,

im new to the forum scene and am abit of a lone so,ldier in the online poker scene.

ive been playingonline for years now but just as your typical maniac basically taking the piss.

3 weeks ago I had surgery and have been be ridden and decided what better time to get serious about online tourneys, decided to deposit 200$.

over the 3 weeks ive had cashes adding upto about 20k including a win in the sunday extra multi fiddy 40k guaranteed and several 4 figure cashes.

ive learnt so much about poker in 3 weeks and make late stages majority of the time but seem to have struck some bad luck/variance along side investing some hefty buy ins in the FTOPS EVENTS but am wondering does it go beyond that?

I would love to learn a lot more about mtt stratedgy from a experienced coash but feel I wouldn't even know what to ask? or where to start I feel im a strong player who plays purely off instinct and my own analysis of hands but when people start talking technically im not really sure what it means?

I wish I even had friends interested so I could anylise hands with them.

i need tips or suggestions on where to even begin to improve my game like studying my hands or what not???
ps this is my first post thanks

please don't rip my haed off

Post your thread here aswell:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/18...oach-listings/

Be aware: most coaches here are pretty decent and you'll learn a lot, but it'll cost you something aswell. If you can work out some kind off deal with your coach (backing, advertising for him,...) you might get a sweet promotion.
Best thing for you to do with your coach is take a tournament where you went semi-deep and ask him to take a look at your general play with him. He'll ask you why you raised there or folded there and confront you sometimes with leaving yourself without any comment and pointing out errors. Once you get a good understanding of a basic game and making adjustments you can go to leakfinding in your game.
You can buy yourself a lifetime of coaching, depending if you're happy with a basic game/ a solid game or becoming simply the best player there is.

Good luck sir!

If you just started playing seriously very recently and basically just ran hot from a $200 deposit (mostly from 1 score), I think you shouldn't start with a coach yet and just get better by posting and reading in SSMTT and MSMTT forums. The information that you currently need to improve is available for free so there's no need (yet) to pay a coach to help you improve.

Welcome!

thanks mate I feel I play quite a good game, i run late stages majority of the time and cash frequently but feel there are players out there that just purely have it over me and have a much better understanding of the game, I just wonder where do they learn it as I have no one to bounce ideas and questions off as my mates gave up long ago on online poker. everything that could possibly go wrong has lately.
I think variance has hit me really hard and shaken me up abit to be completely honest.

That's pretty standard and happens to the best out there, so you might acknowledge variance and try to deal with it(as hard as it may be sometimes).
If you are indeed new to the game, don't jump straight to a coach, but learn the basics by reading posts here, thinking of what you would do in the spots of the posters and ask other people why they would do something different from you.
I think this is more valuable and a LOT cheaper then hiring a coach at the very instance.

I wish you all the best!

As an aside and related to the other thread, one of the good things about getting a poker tracker is that you will be able to track stats that will help you understand at least a little bit better whether your results are due to variance or not. For example, you can look at something like your EVBB/100 rate post ante (which should probably be at least 3.0 to beat the 10% MTT rake), which while subject to variance, will be subject to less variance than your MTT ROI over a small sample. And HEM2 will automatically sift through your old hand histories, so you will have that information immediately.
