This hand bothers me so much from tonight. Guess nerves came in or something. Is this horribly weak or how could I've played it some other way?

Seat 9 just doubled up, a few hands ago he was in with 16k with 20 behind and folded to a min-raise. Next hand he pushes 20k into bb and doubles.

Villain is a very competent player,

Live 100$ tourney.

Editing because I'm dumb and didnt input things correctly

I ran it through ICMizer and here's our shoving range:

Yeah, but wouldn't that change since button reeeeally don't understand basic pot-odds and most prob will bleed out?

If you want to make the argument that he's probably going to be eliminated in the next 2 hands as he goes through the blinds, I think thats reasonable, this is the bottom of our shoving range anyway. But if your approach is to be completely risk averse for the ladder, doesn't that mean you would rather fold this pre?

Well... yeah. lol

However, as played, I don't know how I thought but I can guess.

Villain is the one competent player at the table. I don't really want to play a hand out of position against him. At the same time I somehow think he knows I'm strong since I don't get in a confrontation with him oop with button having >3 blinds. But in that scenario we could just put 2.5 with any two to steal the blinds?

However, he flats and when he checks this flop it means one of two things to me.

1. He's trapping, and given stacks and icm pressure plans stacking me off when I c-bet.

2. He didn't connect.

My reasoning is to keep the pot small since I have showdown value and check and see what turn brings.
I simply would hate the times I c-bet say 40-45k and he shoves.

The J is a wonderful turn, so same principle goes through my head but if I check now I might induce a bluff if the river bricks.

The river is the 8 and he bets for value, I call him down.

I'm not saying this is correct in any way, but I believe this is how I was thinking,

*goes back to my box of shame*

Shove this pre.

As played, I think your line is standard. Argument for bet/fold turn, but given ICM considerations, I like checking back.

I think you played it fine. I agree that I would bet the turn a lot of the time. But you played it fine and you got him to bluff the river.

What do people think about open limping here to try and get +1 to shove over the top?

You might get in a bad spot if one of the blinds jam behind, but if that happens you can dump the hand losing less than 10% of stack.

Lolwut? Sorry man, but that would be absolutely atrocious.

BTN coming in over the top is bad for us. He has no fold equity, so he's only sticking it in with a premium hand that ATo is likely flipping or worse against.

And you're planning on folding to a SB/BB shove here? You might as well announce to the table "hey guys, I don't really want to win this thing, so I'm just going to pay an extra blind every orbit".

This. But however, I really think this one's close, given stacks and one player bound to bleed out in the next orbit.
In the chart provided by skelts, ICMizer makes j10s a push aswell. Are you jamming that aswell, Poloplaya?
