Hi guys. Haven't posted on here in awhile, also haven't been playing much since black Friday, so a little rusty. Went w/ a friend to play a live tourney. Tourney got 34 plyrs. and top 5 cash. Here we are down to the final 6 & payout is as follows: 1st pl. $660 2nd:$380 3rd.:$280 4th:$160 5th:$94, and we all threw in $10 for bubble since we were fairly even stacked, so bubble pays $60. Table has been playing fairly scared money since we hit bubble. Villian is slight chip leader at about 140k, hero would be second at about 130k, and other 4 remaining have btwn about 70-110k.. Haven't played many hands with Villian. He's roughly 55 yrs old. Seems pretty straightforward from what I've seen. Looking to know what you guys think is best pre, and also as played on flop. Thanks in advance...

Blinds are 6-12k, no antes, hero is on button w/88. UTG opens to 30k, next 2 fold, hero calls, blinds fold. Flop is 25J rainbow. Villian bets 40k. Hero?

Would ship as standard, but could find a fold if he is the classic live old guy nit that is only raising super-premiums. If he is in any way active then gii quite happily

Probably only sat w/ him for about 25 hands, so wasn't quite sure. I believe I saw him play one pot OOP after raising pre where he checked it down with another player when he had a low pp..

So as far as pre it sounds like you guys are thinking ship>fold>call, and as same thing as played on flop?

actually given everyones stack sizes, i could be an advocate for folding preflop

Yea. Hindsight being 20/20 I think my best EV play here was folding. Just not sure whether I like a call & hoping to play the pot in pos. against an opponent who I think will only c bet a small % of flops when he doesnt hit w/2 overs, or just shipping pre & hoping he doesn't have a higher pp
