Limpers Galore... Shoving with 44? Limpers Galore... Shoving with 44?

Hey team. Happy for you to bust my balls on this one. My game might need some fine tuning - online v live play.

I watch twitch poker, and I've learned loads from top streamers. I've studied ranges, etc... Yet here I am live in a $30 buy in at the pub game (25 runners I'm guessing), and there's 12 left. Blinds are 4k / 8k, and i'm in the SB with 44.

Just doubled my stack a bit earlier as a limper with TT ended up calling my QQ all in - limp, limp, limp. Back to the hand -

Couple of folds. Two limpers. Both are drunk as; I'm sober as it's Wednesday. Dealer folds. I have 12.5BB so I shove hoping to recoup my 4k and the $24k out there. 44 in the SB.

First limper snaps with A8 suited, and the second limper at CO snaps with AK suited. I'm ahead... but I'm thinking "What in the F are these guys doing not raising?"

A on the flop. I'm out.

Felt like I made the right shove with 44, but then I was thinking - drunk donkeys are gonna trap. Do I really want to shove against two limpers that could call? Did I make the right play considering the scenario / I'm about to be on the button next (no antes)? Or is this just low-stakes garbage that I need to take into account / perhaps tighten up.

Happy to hear all thoughts / good and bad about my play.

What was your stack? Anyway I think your play would be correct if players were sober. I'd probably play as you did, but when people are drunk will call with no sound reason with very marginal hands, and 44 cannot afford to get more than one caller. Did you have room to complete your BB and see a flop?

Just thinking...

If people are limping and calling all in's (as I doubled up with QQ v TT limper), maybe my best play against all these limpers was just a call / set mining type strategy.

Thoughts?

Blinds were 4/8k - I had 12.5BB at $100k.

Against non-drunk players this is a 100% shove, too much dead money.
Maybe just calling from SB would have given you the chance to flop a 4 and then lead them to value town. I don't now mate this is an ugly spot

Stack is too small to set mine. It’s a shove or fold.

I like the shove. Lots of dead money. You knew it was a flip if they called. You lost the flip, no worries.

If you consider also the implied odds deriving from a stacking a drunk oppo when you hit the set, it becomes ok to invest 0.5 BB in a pot of 3

I’m in conserve mode. Let’s say there are three limpers next hand and we get dealt 66. Is it ok to invest another BB in a 4.5 Bb Pot? That’s 1.5 BB out of 12.5.

I’m in shove or fold mode. I’m not set mining.

The greater the likelihood of getting multiple callers, the worse small pairs do as shoving hands. Too many overcards to dodge.

I would just flat and set mine, even short stacked, you are getting good odds multiway.
