This is a 1,500 FPP satellite for T$/215. This is an extremely passive table, and the light raise was enough to take the blinds down 4 times in the last two orbits, and a small c-bet took down the 5th.

Villian is the only other aggressive player at the table, and I'm reading this as a resteal.

Remember that it's winner take all.

Shove and only shove

This is a pretty clear shove imo, he's playing back at you preflop and you have a monster...ship it.

I'd prefer to not get fancy with playing this hand postflop.

And fpp stt? I just call, then make a weak flop bet to get a raise to push allin over. If he suks out with 8-10, so it goes.

so u think its only a resteal, and he cant have a good hand? if thats the case call and c/r most flops. otherwise just stick it in and pwn his AJ.

I thought of this line. I didn't want him to fold and a 3bet to 600 turns my cards face up. He is definitely c-betting any flop.

In the end I opted to shove, hoping he would call with Ax, pp, which I was pretty certain he didn't have. He folded.

Later in the tourney I picked up the exact same hand - raised 3X this time, made a weak flop bet on a J-rag-rag flop as you just suggested, and villian would have stacked me with J6 if he didn't hit the 6 on river.

Didn't matter though, we both made it to HU and chopped.

A chop for a satellite with a single seat prize?

shove. calling to crai on the flop is an mtt play. we have more to lose by trapping than to gain.

lol @ chopping an fpp donkastt?

Yup. Poker Stars allows it. We were going to chop three ways but the other guy didn't want to because he was the chip leader - then he ended up stacking off.

Pretty cool huh?

I'm thinking about this hand:

Call>=Shove>RR.

That look right to you guys?

generally when you get repopped like this, villian will call a shove.

so i just shove pre. calling can be a disaster because it lets get him get away postflop when you could have easily stacked him...

In a sat calling and getting cute is so ridiculously bad. Folding it might be more profitable than calling and playing a flop.

Oops, misread the structure. Shoving is still optimal.

Yeah I'm beginning to agree with this. I made the right play because I hadn't seen how he handles c-bets, since no one was defending.

This hand, however, illustrates why the call-crai line might have worked:

He had J6.
