Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 9 J

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 2.3 BB, fold, Hero calls 1.3 BB

Flop: (5.1 BB, 2 players) A J 9
Hero checks, BTN bets 2.4 BB, Hero calls 2.4 BB

Turn: (9.9 BB, 2 players) A
Hero checks, BTN bets 4.8 BB, Hero calls 4.8 BB

River: (19.5 BB, 2 players) A
Hero checks, BTN bets 45.25 BB and is all-in, Hero?

flop we could x/r, I decided to call since we don't have a lot of value hands in our range.

Might just fold pre, j9o is absolute dog **** esp if there's no ante.

C/r flop and I guess you gotta call river since you don't have many aces in your range.

Calling pre is okay if you have good post flop skills and don't get married to hands. As played, I think a check raise is in order on the flop. Because you don't have a lot of value hands in your range is all more reason to raise flop, AQ or AK might be fooled and pay you off. As played fold turn and defintely fold river, you're hopelessly bluff catching and unless you want to be a hero you'll more often than not be shown the nuts.

I would also raise the flop - As played going to call the turn but fold the river - hand is pretty face up and most Vs are not going to try to bluff you off your boat.

It's also easy to underestimate how much V will have the case A here - something like 10% of button raising range - and another 3% will be KK QQ which could also take this line for value.

Preflop call is fine vs a button raise. Only need 25% equity to call profitably.

I would definitely c/raise this flop. We can get called by Ax hands and flush draws and possibly by KK and QQ who think we're raising with a flush draw. Plus there are a lot of turn cards that hurt us so we need to try and charge villain to get to the turn.

Turn card is interesting. Less likely he has an Ace but now our 2 pairs are counterfeited vs KK and QQ. His bet here is a pretty good indication we're beat. Is he really betting a hand like TT or 88 that we beat or double barreling a naked flush draw?

On the river I don't give him an Ace because I don't think he jams that for fear of betting you off a hand with a J or a 9. I'd expect a check or very small value bet with Quads. I'm thinking he either has KK or QQ and is specifically targeting your having a J or he is straight bluffing with a missed FD which I think with his stack size is a huge mistake if he is.

I think I re-raise on the flop. When defending J9o, I think when we get a J and 9 on the flop we should be pretty happy. If we don't want to take advantage of this, I'd fold pre. BT has a wide opening range.

If we think villain is too light we'd be better to 3b pre than defend hands that don't flop that great post.
