This shove seems absurd to me. What kind of value would be making this move? I have no range for V making this move. Does anyone have other thoughts here?

As always, comments on hand in general are welcome.

FWIW, I think you are almost never ahead here. I'm ranging V on all sets, 56 and a hand like A3ss. As a general rule, when weak players 4x overbet the turn, they ALWAYS have it. I am folding here 100%. As for what my calling range would be, probably the worst I'm calling here is 84 but I'd hate it, and all stronger hands obviously.

It doesn't make much sense. Why not pot the turn and then pot the river. Seems like he is afraid of flush and straight draws. It doesn't make much sense as a semibluff. I would definitely call with a straight or set though.

It made zero sense to me, that's why I put it out there. I did muck, so I guess we'll never know.

Yes it makes no sense. The good thing about it is that we don’t need to defend a lot when Villain does this. Top pair bad kicker is an easy fold here.

The min raise on the flop makes me think he has 65 and he is looking for a free turn card. Could be he has a set too.

I want to say that he is extremely polarized here but I don't think he is. He could be jamming because he is OOP with something like A8, or a smallish two pair, and doesn't want you to suck out on him and cost him on the river.

This so rarely happens. I have had it happen to me once that I can remember. I had raised with junk OTB and had been called by BB and won the hand and had to turn it over. Then I waited a number of rounds and raised OTB first in with J8o (ironically) and BB called. Flop was 853 not a rainbow and not monotone. On the flop it went check, I bet, he c/r'd. I called. 5 on the turn (no flush) and he jammed like 4x pot. I almost called but I thought that while he was mad at me, he could still be ahead. Never found out what he had. But my thinking in the future is I might just check behind on the flop and call down two bets.

It would have been different if he had checked, you had bet and he c/r'd the turn all in. Then I would give him credit for draws or a very big hand.

Yeah, I hate situations like this, since it totally disrupts pot control and forces me to guess with a marginal hand. While that's the upside for his play, the down side is he's gonna run into a hand that snaps that ridiculous oversized shove.
