How many mistakes do you make per game? How many mistakes do you make per game?

07-23-2009 , 01:15 PM
Bit of a noob question, but I'm just curious how many mistakes high volume players make per game in terms of SNG Wiz pushbotting (not including misclicks )

I'm guessing not too many people keep stats on that, so general feel is good enough?

Right now I'd say on average I make 2-3 clear SNG Wiz mistakes per game, but occasionally have those games where I review my play and just wanna puke.

Thanks

a shytload.

wiz uses its default ranges and those are not that great most of the time, so the mistakes you see in the overview and not necessarily mistakes and the green checkmarks are not necessarily correct.

It's pointless to check whether you get a green tick in Wiz results, since the default ranges can be so far off in some spots. But I can safely say when I review my results and adjust the ranges that I usually don't make more than 1 really bad shove/call per game at the most (by really bad I mean more than -1% wrong). But there are usually a lot that are quite touchy on ranges (+0.3%/-0.3%), and could go either way - they aren't mistakes as such, they just need a lot of looking at and assessment.

more than I'd ever like to admit.

If you get green checks in whiz 100% of the time you are def doing it wrong. Playing explicatively when can is def the way to go, and that even means passing up a small +ev spot according to whiz for something better.

Not sure as to what stakes you play but in the lower stakes, even after adjusting ranges passing up a small spot isn't going to be bad. Obv you should study whiz a ton, but don't like it dictate your sng game 100%. At higher stakes where games are full of regs, it is going to be better off not to pass a small edge because they are so hard to come by. I can tell you right now that a lot of the great player such as imcastleman are not married to ICM because there are going to be a lot better options as far as game flow is concerened. Sometimes the variance of the game is going to make a good sng'er get everything right according to ICM because that is just they way it goes. Other times they are going to choose to pass it up because it is deemed necessary in their minds and whiz will call it a mistake. Just find your own winning style and know when to say FU to whiz and it'l be all good.

One mistake per game: Signing up to play in the first place....

Johan Cruyff imo.

I make far too many mistakes and I don't need Wiz to tell me about them - I just rely on that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that I get a microsecond after I know I've made a bad call.

Multitabling I occasionally lose track of stack sizes and auto fold a K9 UTG when I'm gonna get blinded out. That's something I need to work on.

I rarely make significant wiz mistakes other than that. Tiny equity edges are impossible to calculate that fast and guess what? - they are tiny so they make very little difference to the ROI.

On a standard 6 seater game (non-turbo), I probably have about 3 or 4 Red X's. But that's because I don't play a big stack too well. Nearly always correct when short.

Everytime the guy above me posts it's costing me 5 mins of my life..

going by red Xs is pretty useless, you have to review the ranges for them all, and even then you may be making a mistake because your ranges are off.
