Hi all,

I’ve been playing a specific game exclusively for about 3 months now. It is a double or nothing 6man $11 SnG on Titan which I have been 8 tabling. I was looking at some stats and saw after a 1K sample size I have a 58% win rate with a 22% 4th (bubble) rate.

I found I come across a common problem and I don’t know how best to tackle it. I feel my early is pretty solid, basically folding and playing my top 5-10% strong. But once it gets down to the bubble I face the same problem.

Scenario:
Blinds 200/400.
Stack: 1400
I’m UTG with rags.
All opponents have stacks between 1500-2500.

If I shove, I’m shoving rags and almost always guaranteed to be an underdog if I’m called which seems to happen more often that not.
If I fold, after I put my next BB in I’m down to 1000 and if someone pushes or even min-raises, unless I have a decent hand I have to fold making me the shortstack and susceptible to being bullies and blinded out of the game.

Obviously throughout the game while its still 6 & 5 handed I try to avoid this happening when it gets to bubble play, but in this common scenario what is the best move long term?

When you have a chronic shortstack of 5xbb and under, You want to be pushing and calling with hands that play good multiway because it is likely with such a short stack and barely any fold equity that you will be called by more than 1 opponent.

To avoid getting so short, you should really open up your range in the middle level of the DoN, stealing blinds and re stealing off the right opponents.

BvB and BTN shoves when you have 10xbb, and a playable hand are a decent way to stay at chip average and not get blinded down aswell.
