Just wondering MTTC!?

I only recall one time when I was going to call the clock on someone if he didn't act in like another 30 seconds, but Annette 'Annette_15' Obrestad beat me to the punch!

Darn! I can't wait to pop my clock-calling cherry.

I do it all the time... ppl seriously dont need that much time to make a decision most of the time.. sb shoves for 10x, bb thinks for 2 minutes before folding, like... wtf. I dont care if they think im a bitch or not but I'm not gonna wait and let the blinds go up and see fewer hands just because ppl are too ******ed to use their brain.

I've done it once. Total fish min3bets a btn open from bb and btn calls. Flop comes like TT8 or something and fish shoves for 1.5x pot and btn tanks...and tanks....and tanks. I called it after five minutes because I was the only one at the table under 40 I think, btn ends up calling with 77 and being ahead so yeah he had a legitimate decision I suppose.

yeah, only once although there were SEVERAL times it entered my mind. but the one time was just silly, action went fold to sb, he completes, bb tanks and checks. flop check check, turn check check, river check and bb goes into the tank. for over 2 minutes. at which point i clock him. i mean, cmon.

Yes, I do it but not regularly. I hate having to sweat a hand out or wait to play more hands. It cant take more than 2 minutes to decide anyways.

Only once.

Guy then insta-called. I'd check-shoved him with a set and he decided I must be bluffing and called with A high.

no, except in a san remo side event. this guy was annoucnig he was stalling until the money when we (me and some online player on my left) confronted him on stalling, and this was like a turbo tourney, 30 minute levels, avg stack was like 11 BBs, and these people were taking like minutes with evry decision, every hand. so me and this other kid asked for a permanant clock on every action on the table, they didn't really do that though so it was just insta-clocked this one guy every time he was to act.

I usually don't, and never do when I'm in the hand, but with people who perpetually take way too long I will do it.

Once on Ted Forest but he asked me to call the clock on him since he was taking forever and couldn't decide to call reraise/push by Chip Jet. He waited until the last second, Called and lost. Chip did a really good job at talking Ted into the call. Apparently Ted used to back Chip for many years and now chip was backed by someone else and they were needling each other.

I do only to the ******s who take 4+ minutes on simple decisions. Like if it's preflop and there's less then 2 bets to you, you don't get over a minute. If it's postflop and you are just facing a c-bet you don't get 4 minutes. CLOCK PLEASE!

Hand from Caesars Megastack:

CO Raises to 12k BB calls. Flop Ts8s3c. CO bets 16k, BB minraises to 32k, CO goes all in for 45k. CO doesn't even raise the pot because he doesn't have enough.

After a 2 minute tank I clocked BB who then got very upset and started berating me. "WHY CAN'T I HAVE TIME TO MAKE THIS DECISION??" He folds and CO laughs and shows AJ. "That's why."

Although I fully agree your attitude and approach, you still have to realize that the rule's standard of a "reasonable amount of time" is very different for different types of players. I think it's important not to make amateurs feel like they are rushed or pressured, just like it's important to force Men the Master to act more quickly when it's his time to fold AQ preflop vs three raises and he feels like pondering the decision for six minutes.

So, for the most part, I only call a clock on habitual stallers, over-thinkers and Hollywooders. In big hands where I can tell the player is just stuck in his own thought process, I'll usually set some arbitrary 2-3 minute mark on the stopwatch and call the clock then.

The best solutions is Speed Poker, and it'd be great if that became the standard--something like 30 seconds to act per decision with a 2-5 minute time bank per tournament.

not very often and usually only in extreme conditions. I usually give the player a headsup saying in another minute or 2 im going to call the clock if they dont hurry up and act

I never have but I've wanted to many times
usually the only reason I don't is because I'm constantly thinking "well I could call the clock, but by the time the floor gets here he'll act anyway" so I never do, heh

I can't remember calling the clock when I was in a hand, but I called the clock on John Phan in the WSOP NLHE event he ended up winning. We had gotten back from break and had played two hands in 20 minutes due to his incessant tanking and hollywooding. John was in a big pot against someone where he got limp-reraised pre, then had to call a shove for like 1/2 pot on an all low flow. He tanked for 6-7 minutes, then got up out of his chair to look at the tournament clock, presumably to see if we were nearing a payout jump. At this point i said "this is ridiculous" and called clock. I really should have called clock on him like 90235929052 times during that tournament but I guess I'm too nice.

Anyway, I don't usually call clock when I'm in a hand because I'm afraid it'll make someone do the opposite of what I want them to do.

Yeah, anyone who has never called a clock on anyone has never played with John Phan.

Based on extensive experience I've concluded that tanking time is a Markov process -- therefore this is flawed thinking and you should call the clock.
