Here are a few comments about the hand. I had pretty much been able to take down most pots I've raised, and more than once that came after our villian had limped in before me. I figured I could possibly take it down preflop with a raise, and to most reraises be able to lay it down without too much damage.

When Villian gives me a small reraise, I instantly was able to put him on AA/KK. He had been playing solid thus far and had not gotten out of line much. So, assuming my read of AA/KK is correct is it a good idea to make this call? I feel I have a few things in my favor here:

1. I know my opponents hand. His limp and then small reraise basically flips his hand over in my eyes. It'll be easy to determine if we are ahead or not post flop with this knowledge. If we hit, he won't be able to get away with AA/KK and if we miss we can fold easily.

2. We are getting 3:1 to make this call. It's about 6k into a pot of 18k. I'm not sure exactly how the math is with these two hands, but I can't imagine that after we include odds of what we get if we hit it's too bad of a call odds wise.

3. We have position.

Things against us:

1. Making a call for a decent amount of our stack KNOWING we are behind. I know it probably works out odds wise, but I've always had a problem making plays when I know I'm behind.

If I have missed anything or have a faulty thought process about it, please let me know.

With all this said, would you make this call preflop?

If you're pretty sure you can stack his overpair when you flop 2 pair or better then the implied odds are the rest of his stack for the 6K you need to spend to see a flop. The immediate odds are enhanced here as your read that you can play for stacks against an overpair on the right flop. Given that I think effective stacks are enough that you can call and see a flop.

Well if you have him on AA or KK you are 22% to win, and getting just 3-1 on your money. Position and implied odds do make up for some of that edge. Still, you will rarely connect enough on the flop, and need to see five cards to take advantage of the odds.

I fold this based on your read.

I agree.

I like the raise pre, but I don't think u are going to win enough times to make this a profitable play. Plus I think it will be good for your image if u lay this down because when you actually get a big hand someone may think they can just take it away from you with a re-raise.
