Poker Stars $5.00+$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t100/t200 Blinds + t25 - 5 players - 4 places pay

BB: t2370 M = 5.58
UTG: t5735 M = 13.49
CO: t3720 M = 8.75
Hero (BTN): t6740 M = 15.86
SB: t8435 M = 19.85

Pre Flop: (t425) Hero is BTN with 5

2 folds, Hero raises to t445, 1 fold, BB raises to t2345 all in, Hero calls t1900

i had not been aggressive at all...is this the right call to make

I may be getting the math wrong here, but I like at least 2-1 in these spots which it doesn't look like you have...

Pot should be around 3015 and it is 1900 more to you to call which is about 1.6 to 1.

I'm folding.

I don't think its bad. A lot of hands you are simply racing against are re-jamming, including a small % that A2-A4o/s but don't count on that. You, as stated before, don't have the pots odds to make the call with a smile but I think on a money bubble is fine for a race.
You are sitting on ~35bbs before the hand starts so you can justify the 10bb call.

avaholic... i feel the same way about it and usually do like 2 to 1 but cant tell you why i do other than i like to make up for the times when the villian has an overpair. is there some math to the 2 to 1 rule or just what you like to be getting.......plo ufo why is being on the money bubble fine for a race, is it because the villian is shipping wider, i would think they are doing that with a smaller range.....hackdeath is not shoving a good idea because the only thing that is willing to call from the bb is something that at best im flipping. sorry if these are ridiculous questions but i am tired of being breakeven tbh

First of all I think shoving is far from optimal vs bad players this deep, I put it there because I think r/f vs BB is pretty bad especially with antes.

In bold: in a spot like this we don't care if we're "at best flipping" if we get called. We care about our equity vs his calling range, and equity gained when he folds.
