The raiser was opening quite alot of hands and I had already 3bet folded to his 4bet shove. He raised 2 hands before and as I didn't want to flat with 88 I 3bet and if he shoved this time I was gona call. I feel flatting 88 with my stack size is bad, folding 88 I thought would be weak play and just shoving would mean I only get called by hands that crush me. So i felt a small 3bet and quite possibly he shoves a wider range thinking he can make me fold. Any thoughts? Or different approaches?

Not sure 3b'ing to induce is the best with 88, eve against an agg opponent. It seems optimistic that he'll spew off here considering your relative positions at the table. (But you would have the best idea of his possible tendencies)

I prefer shoving. Your chipstack is up there, but still okay imo for it to be a profitable shove against an agg opponent. It's also awesome for you to get villain to fold hands like QJs, KQs, A9-AQ, which he might shove if you 3b. He may even fold a hand like 99, maybe TT.
