BEFORE YOU READ!

I am new to Two Plus Two. I am looking for CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, not condescending replies.

Tourney is a £5.50 Daily Grind 4k GTD on PartyPoker.

I'm in the BB with 55 blinds 3,000/6,000. (Cant't remember ante) Stack 321,000. Folds to SB who calls, I raise to 21,800 (mostly to steal blinds instead of set mine). UTG calls and so does the SB.

Flop 86K. It checks around. Turn is 9.

Since the flop checked around I lead out with 38,000 thinking nobody has got much since any pair on the flop here would likely bet out.

With a straight looking unlikely (7-10. I don't add in 5-7 as I'm blocking a good bit of it) and only the river left to complete other straights like J7s, J10, any diamond draws, doubtful of club draws as to call 38k with a gutshot club draw on the flop.

Trying to get them off their hands with this bet. However UTG raises to 76,000. SB folds, I also fold. UTG had 390,000 stack, SB had 331,000.

Haven't played with them much to get reads on ranges (couple of hands as moved tables).

I am not a fan of these spots, any advice or insight into how to either avoid these spots or to do better reads on these types of boards?

Is this a fold pre, I know the raise may be abit loose with a small pair but
it's spots like these I can never seem to get my head around properly or have a decent idea what opponents have in this spot.

I know that UTG call with that type of raise should be an
alarm sign but trying to break down what they have with a 20 second timer isn't the best for a decent decision.

Any insight would be great and helpful. Idiot replies need not apply.

I would check my option pre.

Your hand has good equity but has low playability. Big SPR and multiway is a fine starting point for this hand. Too deep to jam, just check.

Raising against SB alone would be fine, but UTG limps are usually because they want to call so no real value in raising.

Post-flop is symptomatic of the lack of playability. I think you would have problems on most boards.

The turn bet is not good. The board is sopping wet and you already checked the flop. What are you repping? This bet will rarely get through two players, and you have zero rivers you are thrilled about.

Thanks for the two replies, your thought on this is great and has opened my eyes abit more regarding these spots. Now I see what you mean about what am I repping here on a checked flop. Which is probably what the villian was thinking before he raised me lol.

Appriciate your response and thought process from reading my post, thanks

With utg limping I would be happy to check my BB and set-mine here.

Since you've raised, I think you should follow up with a CB to rep a strong King and then shut down. When you check flop and then bet turn, it looks very fishy. What hand are you trying to represent that wouldn't have bet the flop?

I like your thought process on this. It will definitely help me improve for similar future spots. I don't think I thought this hand through very well lol. Thanks for your great reply

I agree with what has been posted. Only thing I would add is we should be going larger pre when we're going to raise in these spots. We don't really have a whole lot of fold equity with our sizing, with two limpers in the pot.

On a side note, I see that you posted stack sizes at the bottom of the post, which is great/needed for a post, but it'd be better to post them at the beginning of the post in the future.
