If someone would’ve told you that - he never study poker, never read any book’s and generally sucks at math, but he’s making 2k/month playing low stake turnaments - would you believe him?

Is it possible to just have that raw talent and feel for the game?

It’s possible sure. I started beating low mid stakes with no study or books and I’m good at maths ...but not brilliant . It was ofc 2006 but u can get good by just playing a tonne and understanding what you are seeing.

By playing a heap of sngs to start off I had a good understanding of pushbotting without ever reading that term and was a reg at Party 109s after 6 months. So at MTTs could be nitTAG and pushbott and while not a crusher, im still hard to get rid of. That plus volume = some deep runs

$500 a week isn’t killing it and pretty easily attainable if u can grind hard. Don’t believe him ?...ask for his player name.

if he made 2k in one month i could believe that. if he claims to have made 2k/month over a 12+ month span id assume this is a lot less likely/close to impossible.

edit: speaking about online mtts. dont have any insight into low stakes live mtts.

I did that for many years and even now I only do a review once every 1-2 months.
Longterm you need to understand your mistakes and stop making them over and over again by being ignorant and blaming your opponet/rng for your loss of chips (which is often the case, but not always) & thats the main difference between a good player and a bad player.

Especially at low stakes you can easily be a winning player by never having read a book or study. Even till ~2011 many people were even able to do the same at higher stakes.

The human brain is the most powerful tool a poker player has. The more you play, the bigger your database in your brain gets. & even if you dont remember a specific spot, you will still have a feeling for it a spot which comes from the sample size of all hand you have played till that point.
