micro mtt's yawnnnn

Whenever i go deep in an mtt i seem to spew or get soul read to death and bust that elusive FT on a regular basis

I really need to work on my end game but i find coaching too expensive when playing micros on a br

Note i can play higher but if i can't beat the micros how can i beat midstakes+?

Any suggestions where to go for help at this level or should i just gamble and play higher with coaching at midstakes level?

It sounds like you may need to play a tighter, abc style game at the ft. I usually play pretty tight (depending on my cards) until a few people have been knocked out and then open up quite a bit. Of course this also depends on your chip stack as well.

Which sites are you playing? Stars is very hard to beat as the field sizes are so big - can be easier with smaller MTTs say 100-200 runners - also means that tourneys are shorter and so impatience / fatigue less of a factor. Overall fields a little softer too.

ICM is also important to get your head around - I think a lot of equity is given away in later stages by players who gii when they shouldn't - maybe play some SNGs to get practice - Also I think it's really worth playing some HUSNG as HU play by MTT players can be truly awful.

Other than that - review histories and post hands!

you're right not to move up until you're sure you can beat the micros

Hey Sheila, all that could be said has been pretty much said here, simply remember that your average Stars MTT micro field of say 3k+ is hard to beat, and even one wrong flip or lost 70/30 can erase 4-5-6 hours of solid play, hell, few weeks ago i bubbled FT of The big 0.55$ with 70/30 20bb effective situation in my favor. As long as you keep improving and play volume, i think MTTs is easily beatable on Stars and that big score will come.
Few ways that have worked for me:
-obv 2+2 browsing these forums;
-i DONT GET ANYTHING FROM THIS AND NOT ADVERTISING, but Gripsed vids on YouTube have really helped me a lot;
-reviewing your own HHs, i will pick either biggest losing/winning pots of recent sessions to see if i made some mistakes or didnt get enuff value etc. then i will also take a few tourneys where i ran deep or since i have played those, some MTTSNGs that i won and review them and see what i did correct to win and what i did wrong to lose some value etc.
-work on all these spots with an equity calculator, try to range villains and see what my equity is in certain spots and how often my opponents can hit boards etc.
-Haha and yeah, don't move up to "where they respect your raises", not YET anyway if u think u are not up to it

Cheers,
CJohnnie from CMU

+1000

I watched ALOT of his vids and even the ones where he's simply reviewing a "gripsed" members tournament. I truly believe these videos can improve your game overnight depending on your current skill/experience level.

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated

I do understand the varience involved but it's more do with non all in pots

I just seem to find myself barreling off and not being able to just let some pots go even pressing with air

I guess bet sizing and knowing when to release are what's needed. However even though i understand this it's something i keep doing so maybe i need to get a second wind focus wise when deep
