$5 SNG, 3handed (ITM), Blinds: 60/120/12

Preflop: Hero(7700) raises 2x from Button with 94, Vill in BB (4200) completes
Flop: QT8 (Pot=576) Vill checks, Hero cbets 384, Vill x/jams 3996, Hero ???

Vill Stats: 42/5 over 226hands

So we got 3handed very quickly and thus are fairly deep for a SNG. Seems like I have a bunch of equity, but having a little trouble putting vill on a hand. If I put him on a very nutted x/jam range (2P+, QJ+) it's actually a -EV calloff but that range may be too narrow.

Thoughts on vill's range? Since we are in the money, should I be taking almost any +EV call I can find or are we too deep stacked here for me to GII?

Also, should I have just checked behind OTF?

What's our image? I'm leaning fold and would add strong draws to the c/j range you gave him, which unfort doesn't really help us with the exact hand we have. Check back flop is not an option vs this guy with our hand. jmo

I would guess he's on a semi bluff with something like suited K9c's but I don't know. I try to avoid playing those types of cards because I find it leads to difficult decisions.

Fold pre.

As played, I think a C bet is OK here. Villain seems passive if he's 42/5 so the check raise shouldn't happen too frequently. Obviously it sucks here that it did and you have to fold but overall I think a bet will win more than checking back.

I feel like my image was weak-LAG, maybe strong LAG. I had been winning a lot of pots and had eliminated most of the other vills.

Why don't you think checking behind is an option OTF? Even if vill donk-stabs the turn, we would be able to call and see river with a lot of equity.

Vill just seemed so loose passive (42/5) that I didn't think he would be so aggressive with a combo draw, but who knows. My inkling was that he had perhaps 2-pair or KQ and desperately wanted to avoid seeing another card.

We should generally be aggressive in this situation. We are in position, it takes several bets to get stacks in, there is a shorty. Ya this flop smacks the hell out of a lot of things but there are plenty of hands to fold as well that will make a cbet profitable enough.

Checkback then c/c turn seems ok, but really you are very unlikely to win the pot this way. Also, you are setting up a situation where he will actually bluff you. Even if he is bluffing, you have 9 high so you can't really do anything about it.

Ok, we check back flop, hit our club, and he does what with bottom pair when we bet? Bet flop is just way easier to play and probably slightly +ev compared to check guess. If we have 98, ya you can check all day.
