When the Ridiculous Monster comes and scarfs down a good portion of your bankroll over the course of two or three days (say 15-20% or even *gasp* 30% of it) - how long should you take off here? One day? Two days? A few hours?

I can't drop down any lower in buy-in, although I could start entering STT SNG's instead of MTT SNG's. One buy in is now equalling 51x the BR. Should I deposit enough to bring me back to 100xBI again, or just keep grinding it out and see what happens? It doesn't get much more ridiculous - the craziness I've seen in the past three days - so I'm confident things will turn around soon, but since I'm new at this bankroll management thing, I'm basically wondering what you do if you're at 50xBI or less, and you can't drop down any lower in buy in.

"A man can only take so many bad beats."
-Aristotle

Ok, maybe not Aristotle, but the principle remains true. I would consider taking a few days off at least. Over 3 days. Do things that have absolutely nothing to do with poker. You need to give your mind a rest. Next, you have to work on getting your confidence back. No matter how good the player, running bad can make the best player second guess himself. Believe me, I've run so bad before it's sick. We all have I'm sure. I've lost my ENTIRE br in a few days. No worse feeling in the world. After you take a break from poker... finsh the week off by getting on here and post like crazy. Read some of your poker books. And investing in a membership to pokerxfactor.com wouldn't be a bad idea either, SO WORTH IT! Hang in there champ, this too will pass.

Oh ... you don't state what site you're playing on, but since Stars have 10 cents buy-in MTTs ... I guess your roll has dropped to $5.10???

I'd just re-deposit and not think to much of it.

After all, poker is gambling and you're bound to lose a couple of dollars on the way to the stars!

Oops, sorry, I'm on Full Tilt and the MTT SNG's don't go lower than $2.25, from what I know about. Maybe there's something else I could play, but that's as low as I've seen on that site.
BR is hovering just over $100.

If you have the option of re-depositing the amount you have online isn't really your "bank roll"; when you're talking roll management it's based on the idea, that your "roll" is all you have to keep playing for.

So if you feel you're +EV playing MTTs, or if you just like it much more than SnG, you're probably fine just playing on.

If you feel you're tilting take a break, jerk off, get drunk, go for a walk, whatever rocks your boat in addition to poker, and you'll be fine.

The only purpose of br management it to protect your bottom line. If you are at the lowest ftp tourney level just grind it out. BR manage is for when you are playing 100$ sngs and have to move down cause you have a bad case of the runs. I find that if you take at least two days it is like magic. keep your head up

You could grind out micro cash games to build back some of the losses. Changing games for a few days may be a good break for you and allow you to regroup.

FTP you can only go so low but a site like stars you could go down to the .10c mtt's or even .01/.02 nl ring games. Just about impossible to lose at stakes that low.
