I'm looking to read up on any strategy out there on HU play when you've been grinding in a mtt and finally make it heads up. Which is some what different strategy than for a HU sng correct? So if anyone good link me to any good articles, etc. that they've read I'd really appreciate it. tyty

HOH 2 is the best i have seen.

FWIW, I think HOH2 has a horrible section on heads up and would only recommend it if you really have absolutely no clue on how to play HU. I guess you could use it as a starting stone, but I tend to think it's far too limp happy/passive and some of the generalizations are just pretty bad and can get you into trouble if you follow some of them.

Really? it helped me a lot but then again it was a long time ago when i was relatively new so maybe. i'll have to dig it out and have another look.

I don't know what kind of strategy would be that earth-shattering for playing HU with 20BBs. Moving all in a lot ought to serve fairly well. I mean you are at the point in the tournament that is most critical to your ROI, why not just get it in there and hope for the best?

Ok, that is more of a rant on (the stupidity of) tournament structure than anything else.

As far as I know Nate, there aren't any really good articles discussing this topic. Partly because it is pretty rare that one gets HU in a large tourney and that there is not always much play left.

Unfortunately, the HU cash forum doesn't provide much help either. Raising every button to 4BBs when you only have 20 BBs is probably a bad idea. The advice there is geared around playing with deepstacks HU.

HOH is a great start and gets you thinking about the duel. Also, Sklansky's section in, um, er, I forget which book, maybe Hold 'em for Advanced, is also valuable.

I've gotten my best results from observing Villain and playing him appropriately. Sometimes they'll fold to ANY raise unless they're holding AK or BPP so you'll want to cry when you raise w KQs and he folds. Better to limp with the good hands and raise with trash.

Man i read a good article about Hu play i found on this website. They said to raise 90 percent of you hands in the sb and fold 90percent to raises in the bb i find it works really really well. obviously there was more too it but that is what i got out of it.....or as much as i want to type anyway.

Pretty sure that is for cash games with 100BB stacks. I honestly don't think that is very optimal when you have 20BBs.

Read every thread, play some HU SNGs, post trouble hands, repeat, profit

Yep or play a load of 6/9 handed sngs and read and post plenty of hands on the sng forum all very good practice for end game situations.

Yea I'm thinking I'm gonna play some HU turbos which I think resemble more when you get HU in a mtt
