I mean think about it
Range is polarized and these kind of ranges lend them selves to larger sizings
Big pp like small spr
The more $ we can get in pre it’s good
Winning without a showdown isn’t the worst thing ever
Good things like someone 4b shoving can happen
People are degenerates and folding ranges for weaker players is in elastic so they just call anyway

@ 50bb can be less but never less than 4x imo

Yeah the small 3 bets were en vogue for a few years but then people realized this wasn't good and we've come full circle.

For a while, people wouldn't flat call reraises, so they made these ridiculous click it back reraises and would bluff back at each other. Assuming BB’s range based on the information ‘it’s been posted here so it’s likely a bust out hand’ is results oriented. I didn’t have that information to help me in game. If I did then I too would have said BB probably has AA/KK, easy fold.

I didn’t know that 5x is a standard polarised sizing from OoP and my actual thinking was more like ‘The sizing seems too large for a hand that wants me to call so I put him on QQ, JJ, AK, maybe TT, AQs, maybe a bluff or two, and at worst KK. I agree that AK isn’t a shove vs that range, but I wasn’t in objective killer mode and more like disillusioned gamble mode.

5x OOP may be standard at high stakes now, but is not standard in live tournaments like this.

Was oop ever less than 3x? In position was smaller in the past for deeper stacks and this probably changed because solvers have shown that position is not as valuable as many had assumed.

I don’t think it was ever usual to see people 3bet to 2.5x Oop with roughly 50bb stacks though.

Yep. Also from BB (especially vs UTG) you should have fewer 3-bets to begin with which lends itself to have a bigger open size.
