How do you play this? Table had been very, very tight.

Curious to know if anyone has math to back their argument for call or fold.

thanks

never folding here, co is obv a donkey for limping unless hes good then its prolly a big hand, that being said were so short were never going to get a better spot to get our money in

Thanks. Calling seemed like the only option to me. Just wondered if there was any equity in folding and hoping for big stack to pop the bubble. my only reasoning for a fold would be that i was so very short stacked that i probably only stood a chance at 3rd. 4th place sucks.

I don't have the ICM calculation but I can't imagine folding this hand. You're way too short and have far too good of a hand to fold and hope that the CO was limping a monster.

Being short is a reason to call, not to fold. We call tight in a SNG because, as long as we have a good position in the tournament to defend, doubling up isn't anywhere near as good as going out is bad. But the worse your position gets, the less you have to defend.

Here your position in the tournament is very bad and if you fold then, unless CO is only limping monsters, BTN will take the pot, you'll have 3BB, no fold equity and probably hands that are worse than AK, btn will play carefully against the big stacks because he wants to wait for you to bust and take third, which is what will usually happen. So folding wont gain you a lot of 3rd places, just 4ths, calling will give you 3rds.

If big stack was pushing, you had a stack that was a bit more decent and there would be a real shorty around, then you would have something to defend and might get to fold because of ICM.

complex math is no necessary -

you have ~5bbs and AK.

It's possible that getting AI here is still the best play, but a 3-way AI sucks (you have to beat them both) and doesn't even guarantee anything (if it goes you>BTN>CO, BTN will still have like 1370).

So it really matters how much of a 'tard CO, and to a lesser extent BTN, are. I mean, CO should never limp here and BTN shouldn't really be shoving very much at all.

u r too short to fold AK here. a better question would be: what's the worst hand u call with in this spot?

Agreed.

I called and was 95% sure it was proper. Believe it or not - CO folded and button had J2 off (he had been very tight). my AK lost to a pair of deuces. After it happened i wondered if anyone out there would have folded with the hope that big stack would call. i've never folded one like this but i don't have a lot of experience and seem to be getting lots of 4th and 5th place finishes lately.

oh well - thanks for advice

good luck
