To anyone's knowledge has there ever been a WSOP 5 card draw event? Is this one of the games that is just dead in the water and many people do not play, thus no attention given.

Does anyone believe that the 8-game type rotation like you have at Stars would be a better indicator of the best all around player than the HORSE event?

yeh great and then you'll get people saying you have to include more games until it turns into to the event where no-one knows the games beforehand and the winners will be whoever is able to adapt the quickest.

this is actually a good idea, ivey would win every year.

Pretty sure David Sklansky has a bracelet in 5 card draw high. Also pretty sure draw high events at the WSOP went away soon after he won.

What do you mean that you doubt it would ever happen?

Event 12 this year was a 10k mixed event - exactly the same as 8-game on stars. Other than the usual Chainsaw whining about the structure not allowing him to min-cash, I believe the event was a success.

Or do you mean that you doubt that they'll ever replace the 50k HORSE with a 50k mixed game?

OT

5 card draw high had its last event in 1982 when 2+2s very own David Sklansky won.
Ace to five draw lowball had its last event a little later, 1996 to be exact.

Now the only draw events played at WSOP are 2-7 games. I for one would love both A-5 and draw high to come back to the WSOP but I dont really see it happening. The games just dont have a big enough following. I think there is a better chance of badugi getting an event then 5 card draw high or A-5 lowball.

When it comes to mixed games like the 8-game I think its the future of poker. Holdem is a "dead" game in a sense that there are sooo many great players out there and its much harder to be great at 5-10 games at once. I think this will be the new challenge for many players.
