So much butthurt right now.. i think this spot might be close to a fold, but i thought he was doing it with a wide range and thought i had fold equity. What hands would you re raise here? what hands would you fold here? and what hands would you call? and how would you play them when called.

bbv

If you really want to minimize your variance in a spot like this just flat his 3 bet and then shove any flop T high or lower and x/f any flop with an A or K in it.

I'm suggesting that you are complaining about a bad beat, which belongs in the brags/beats/variance forum.

bad beats and variance

because of ICM (chip leader vs 2nd chip leader) I might choose to take a low variance line here and flat pre and choose to play my hand like how JJH_1981 said..

I mean sb has less than 4bb.. in a few hands hell be out and we can make an extra $265 just like that

This is pretty gross but I think we should fold to the 3bet given SB has 3BB's. I think some people would even limp pre in this spot and although I would have laughed at the idea 2 months ago, I think its probably the best play. Obv btn is ******ed.

Flatting is optimal here. You're too deep (32bbs & 1/3 of chips in play) to be giving up, what is essentially, guaranteed 2nd or 3rd place money with JJ. Like the above poster mentioned, play post-flop & jam on Jack-or-lower board if your read is that he's wide here. Without a read, folding is fine too...since jacks are troublesome and you can probably find another spot.

Assuming 23% 3bet (probably a low estimate here) and AJs is the bottom of his calling range, JJ is still a massively profitable shove, +0.94% according to icmizer.

I like the idea of l/c pre, but i'm not sure it is ever gonna be more profitable than +0.94%. It might be if we were on the BTN tho.

Flatting the 3bet seems like the worst possible line. I dont think there are enough favorable flops where we don't get horribly exploited. I might be wrong tho.

Wow, fold to his 3b? So what's your gii range here? QQ+, AKs? I would 3b you to death if i knew that was your gii range against a 3b. It's not even like he's a nit or even a TAG player. He's agg and he's trying to abuse while he's got the chip lead.

You're just handing him the tourney if you play like that.

I'm not even going to respond to the thought of open limping pre.
