OK, thanks, that sounds well. I assumed by the description of OP that Villain was a good player indeed ...

Raising range pf isn't going to be tighter than 88+, AJs+, AQo+ maybe KQs. Other stacks at the table would be helpful.

Why would it be correct to raise the flop forcing all worse hands to fold and failing to fold any better hands?

With AQs, position postflop, overlay from the blinds, still being happy if the blinds come along to the flop, I think preflop call is good. But it's kinda close, we are behind his range so folding whilst slightly nitty is okay.
Flop flat call is GOOD. It is BEST. Obviously we can't fold & raising just lets him play perfectly. I don't care if he hit his 2 outer this time this is very standard WA/WB.
Assuming you have no history with villain and your just an unknown to him, and assuming the read is accurate enough that we can be sure he is a good player then he's never double barrelling as a bluff here, & as such I can probably find a fold. That said, if we're folding AQ on the turn we should be calling with KQ on the flop.

chiming in...don't mind the call pre but if I do I'm pushing the flop...a good player will c bet to apply pressure with worse on the flop and you have FE

Ton of bad advice in here imo. Call pf, call flop, fold turn.

lol at folding pre or shoving flop ffs

edit: folding pre could be good against known, very tight players. just bc hes a winner on opr and has been playing solid in no way justifies folding AQs in position against his utg raise here.

I agree (finally), but that was what I had in mind. Anyway, I think the gap of EV between calling and folding pre is not that large.

Shoving the flop is ridiculous - as well as the argumentation given here ...
