I'm playing a Step 6 qualifier on Stars (sngtafo). How does my play change? I'm normally a $16-turbo player.

Any advice?

I played the step 3 ($70bi) and step 4 ($225?) and still noticed that people were calling 13BB allin pushes with k/j mp
Step 5 was a bit tough
How does the level of play compare (in your opinion) to the $16 standard turbos?

My table is
badblood1
blanconegro
go4itdude
johnsmiley1
newtons1st
owwex
qqum01
scarfacebc
sngtafo (me)

I've played the steps for both WSOP and LAPT prolly 10 times each and the furthest I've gotten is to Step 5 twice. I've noticed that as you get deeper, the play gets way more aggro. It seems that you need to luckbox your way in?

I agree, I see some SUPER-Thin calls and some borderline silly pushes at this stage and I haven't been able to win any of my races yet.

I'll keep trying though - I have 4 step four seats right now....But I would really be interested in hearing from some 2+2ers who have won and/or who have won multiple seats to get an idea of thier approach.

Hmmm, I think so far my observations have been

EXTREMELY TIGHT for 6-7/9 players when blinds are 25/50 or less (and even 50/100 levels)
Two small ball players for blinds of 10/20 --> 25/50

High blind scenarios have your standard ITM fearless people, and the rest who are scared because they are playing out of their roll?

I'm having a tough time determining whether it's even worth raising with 12-20xbb because it seems to always get punished with a resteal (stevie444 ahem). Is it better to just wait for a hand to be willing to go AI with especially MP and utg positions, or try for steals?

Way, way, way higher standard. Also, you have a double stack and a completely different pay-out structure (slanted towards winner takes all, meaning ICM matters less).

You can table select a fair bit and avoid the biggest regs like stevie444, busto_soon etc though and get a pretty decent table.

Advice: tight early, open a bit and steal more than you'd do in mid-levels, try to identify weak players trying to squeeze into the money (yes, quite a few will do this, bad as it is), don't push as wide as usual late vs good players (they'll call wider, and correctly so), call wider than you would do late vs good players.

played one 6 (finished 6th) and have another 6 ticket & agree with soulman - virtually a winner take all, non-turbo structure. This means, for me, normal tight early, a little more loose/aggro mid, standard push/fold late, assuming you are going for the win. Some non pros will be playing for the smaller money bubbles & u can possibly take advantage of that. Played Stevie & Busto & others & ya, they are rich multi-tabling pros, but, for me, recommend not multi-tabling when u are in the 6. I don't care how confident one is at multi-tabling, for a $2K, I want to focus on each player 100% of the time. Now maybe guys like Steve Chidwick - jeez, I have heard he has won 19 or 20 packages or more, can multi 2 or 3 6's and 2 or 3 5's at a time and do just as good or better than most, but, they are not superhuman & their multi approach may be a tiny leak (I have seen at least one early round stack-off with AQ against a decent player who was not getting out of line) at this level, just speculation...also, don't know if i am allowed to mention training websites or not, but, i liked sheets step 6 vids on pokerXfactor

I think they start playing around 12 pmish or so, so before that or very late. Weekend mornings/early afternoons are good.
