Middle stages of the 1M GTD ACR Sunday tourney.

FR table. Hero has 75bb in the CO. Villain has 85bb and raises to 2.5 bb from UTG +2. V has been splashing around. My HUD shows his VPIP and PFR at 35/25 in 40 hands.

Anyway, Hero 3bets 6bb with 33. Everyone folds. V calls.

Flop is JJ2 rainbow. V checks. Hero bets a little over 1/3 the pot. V calls.

Turn is the 2. V checks. Hero bets 3/4 the pot, leaving about 50bb behind. V calls.

River is a 4. No flushes on the board. V checks.

Hero??? How often should we be jamming in this spot to get V off a pair that’s better than ours? Or should we just check, hoping V was calling us down with A high? What do you think of my sizing OTF and OTT? Also what about my 3bet PF?

I’m never jamming, I’d just call PF. Once you 3 bet, I think you played flop and turn well. Just check river as I think he can call you down with pairs that beat you—how many Jacks do you have in your range and are you really value jamming QQ-AA? Prob not

You have a hand that you don't mind playing multi-way with, but doesn't play so well heads up. No need to 3b

Spoiler:
Hero checks the river. Villain turns over 88 and scoops the pot.

I don’t think betting QQ+ is too thin for value in this spot. V’s hand is basically face up when he calls flop and turn. Sure, once in a blue moon he’s slow playing me with trips. But yea I think you should be value betting an overpair OTR even with the double paired board, especially when he checks to me OTR, basically signaling that he doesn’t have the nuts.

I think this is a lot more nuanced than you're suggesting, and very dependent on both V's and your image. If V is at all tricky, and especially, if you are viewed by V as a perceptive player who would bet an overpair for value here after his check, but who would be smart enough to abandon the hand on the turn to a x/r, V could very well have a J. I'm definitely checking behind on river as you do have sd value against an A. As others have commented, I would have flatted the flop.
