How's my line? I just posted one similar to this, but I think its a lot different since I a have a deep stack... I wasn't too sure about the preflop call, since I normally fold any pp < TT when its raised, but I thought I had a deep enough stack to set mine... thought?

I only called the flop raise because I was trying to stimulate the multiway action

fold pre

UTG +1 is raising with 10x which is highly suspicious as he should be shoving

when its called I woudl actually prefer you to squeeze here rather than call as your not getting the proper odds to set mine

flop you may as well shove they aint going anywhere with that much of their stacks invested

So its usually argued that its better to simply limp with low PPs since you are about 1:8 of hitting a set, but I think this situation is different. I am indeed 1:8 of hitting my set on the flop, but cold calling a 2x raise with a stack as large as I had has HUGE implied odds against the shorter stacks. Since UTG is 10x, hes almost commited himself to this pot. That means that if I hit my set, I'm probably getting him all in. On the other hand, if I miss, I can easily through away the 88. Don't the implied odds in this case warrent a cold call pf?

no as you need more than 8-1 odds to make up for all the times you miss your set and those times you get set over set etc. i think people usually look for about 15-1 odds on set mining

plus you not getting 8-1 here either, you have called 320 and the most you can with is a further 1255 (from UTG+1) which is more like 4-1 so your definately not getitng the implied odds either

put it this way on stars at the 50 level you souldnt really be calling raises at this level very often to set mine (not against regs for sure anyway) and certainly at the 100 level and above you should not be set mining at all
