I am in second place. This is an 18-man turbo with the top four places paying $36-27-18-9. We are five-handed and I am not sure if there is anything I can do but let this go. I was tempted to throw 1500 at the flop, but feared getting shoved all in.

I don't play many 18-mans, but with CL UTG in the hand, we don't want to isolate against him with a hand as weak as AJs.

Dont play 18s but if I did I would shove pre flop here.

This. It's not so much the weakness of the hand but the fact it's not made, so even when he checks to you on the flop, you're not game to try to take it down. I mean, you can't, you put in a third of your stack already, so any bet is going to commit you. So you basically make a losing bet preflop: you're not getting paid the 2/1 you need even to continue with the hand.

I don't think you can play with UTG at all let alone with people left act with position on you.

Depending slightly on UTGs stats for me fold > shove > limp > raise.

I don't think I'm shoving 15 BBs here with 2 shorties, but I think fold and limp are close, and fold may be better.

I think everyone pretty much agrees that the pf raise is the worst option.

Ok so imagine you limp and you hit a lovelly ace high flop. Lets say it comes AT7 2 clubs.

He checks you bet he C/Rs. What do we do?

I just hate playing against the CL in these spots with room for him to bully us, that's why I prefer the shove slightly over the limp. But that's why I said it depends slightly on stats- the better he is the more I like the shove to stop him bullying us, the worse, looser and more passive he is the more I like the limp.

Agreed. The better he is, the more extreme our actions - either push or fold. Of course, what hands does a good UTG CL limp here? I don't think fold can be bad here, but a limp can be OK vs bad/passive villain. We just need to be real cautious post-flop even when we hit.

IMO, limp call either of the 2k stacks if UTG folds. Play small ball on the flop.

If CL is competent, open fold. If not limp and try to play a small a pot postflop unless you hit a monster.
