Final table.

Villain plays solid TAG. After his call r on the flop put him on AQ+. Can't imagine he called flop r with TT+ and then checks the turn oop.

Please, judge hero's line.

Your raise is so bad vs a solid player, please call next time. Why the f would he call with exclusively AQ+? I think you have it backwards.

nothing wrong with this line i think. If you are calling ip with a pp of medium strenght you are hoping for either a set/trips or this kind of board. Him calling the flopraise could be a floatish play with AQ. Him calling the huge bet on the turn confuses me and a trips seems very unlikely.

Curious what better players think of hero's line here.

Why not float the turn after it's checked to you? He has shown strength calling your raise on the flop, and he appears to be a solid player. Then you can get away cheaply on the river if need be, based on your read on the end.

Why do you guys think that a 12/10 over a decent sample is gonna float with AQ oop 30 BBs effective?

I'm a bit of a noob, but where are you getting AQ from? I definitely see villian checking the turn 90% of the time with a strong hand for deception after HERO raises into him. The only way to get away cheaply is to check behind on the turn and re-evaluate on the river.

As strife pointed out flatting the flop bet with position is by far the superior option against a solid TAG.

Now I really don't like my flop raise too) I have ugly downswing now, so it affects my game, I think.

but I really can't imagine that guy had TT+ and allows me to check behind this kind of turn. My raise should mean a really strong hand. Why did he missed the bet? So I'm trying to find how often his turn check will be a sign of weakness and how often it will be a trap of such a kind.

Now I think that it is kinda polarizing check — it means complete air or trips at the very least.

He never has complete air so we can eliminate that, and hes probably checking his whole range on the turn after raise/calling.

TY Strife - and how should our line develop on this turn card when we do flat his cbet when he (i) double barrels, (ii) checks?

If you're going to raise the flop (which I don't think you should do), raise to 11ish.

Turn is bleh-ish. I probably check behind and tank call a modest river bet.

if he checks im gonna check back most of time for a couple reasons:
    a) pot control
    b) to induce bluffs
    c) induce hero calls from villain OTR with Ax
    d) we have to fold to a check/raise

I don't mind bet/folding 40-55% of the pot either for value and protection. I don't know hero's image, but if villain is a thinking player then he can interpret this line as a float and he might play back/make a bad call.

If he double barrels its probably a fold because he reps TT+ 88, but in game I probably call again and evaluate the river.

Good, TY, this all makes sense vs a TAG; the flop raise is tempting for protection against difficult turn cards, but there should be less of those than ones we can take this line with. One more hypothetical if you can bare with me, do you start to prefer the flop raise against a LAG cbet? The call also seems to have merit here since then we set them up for an even wider double barrell range, but then since that range is more balanced than a TAG double barrell, they in fact turn an easyish fold vs. a TAG into a difficult decision for us against them, so should we be seeking to avoid this tough decision with a check raise, or embracing the wider double barrel range which if played properly should be more profitable?

OP sorry for hijacking your thread

Sorry, I appear to be an idiot but why the general consensus to call this flop bet? Is this mainly for pot control?

    Many thanks.

Because he is TAG and so our equity against his entire cbet range is >> than against his raise call range

    mainly yea

if he was wide/agressive we would just 3b/c pre.

vs a 0815-TAG (which is how you beat micro) you can flat pre, call flop and go from there
