hero bets 3500 if he decides to raise the hand PF...

although you then have 6500 in the pot and 10k behind, and you'd have to fold to a raise which kinda sucks... but if you raise pf I think you have to c-bet here, he'll eventually fold a 9, but not a K, so chances are good he folds to that 3500...

I would make it 2.5k preflop. As played here I made it 2.5k on the flop. Both bets are destined to loose the minimum if you loose. With those blinds, a raise from UTG is as scary with 2.5x as it is with 3x. The same for the flop. Villain won´t call/check-raise you with air if you make it 1/2 pot size after having raised pre.

A reasonable alternative would be to simply shove it pre. I assume the antes are ~100? This means you have about 10x the pot, so a shove might be best here, increasing your stack about 10%. I wouldn´t even mind a limp as small pairs are so awkward to play with these stacksizes oop ...

I don't like an UTG shove of 17bbs with sevens here, Tackle.

I'd make it 2.5k utg. In the situation of getting just the one caller from the bb, I'd bet 3k into 5.5k, and fold to a raise.

If get I get flatted on a board like that I'm going to check fold the turn.
