He has an M of 3.5 before the hand... after calling our raise pre, the pot will have more than his entire stack. How in the world can we bet/fold that? lol

Karl, by your logic, can we just raise ATC here and then fire out on most flops? To me that's what it sounds like you are advocating, since if we don't hit our set we're often going to get a flop where we have no idea where we are. I agree in looking at the hand again that stacks are kind of deep for shoving and if we raise to like 1400 the pot won't be THAT unwieldly, but I'm not sure 88 is the kind of hand we can play that well OOP (assuming UTG+1 flats us most of the time). I still think we get more value from his limp/calling range by shoving, though we encounter less variance if we raise it up small and play postflop.

whats your cut off (for a pair) for making a standard raise rather than shipping?

^I still want to just shove and accept the variance...I think we pick up the chips in the pot a lot and when we get called we are rarely dominated except by clowns who trap or limp 99-TT.

you guys really need to get more comfortable playing post flop. Shoving almost 30bbs with such a good hand is just silly. Sure you make a profit on it, but it's not the most optimal way to hand, ainec.
