Spoiler, he has 22, feels like a bad set mine.
Whilst i'm sure it was a mistake on his part, if players are going to do that, what do you recommend for my 3bet size to punish this kind of call behaviour?

Like you said, you're sure that it's a mistake on his part. Your 3bet sizing is good, him calling the 3bet seems to be a losing call since he's only flopping a set about 1/7.5 times here. For it to be a good call, he has to get your whole stack pretty much everytime he flops a set. You're not stacking off here unless you hit a pair, so you're fine.

After he calls your 3bet here, the board is obv a cooler and it is what it is.

Not sure I like the 3 bet with only 23 BBs left. I'm shoving here against all but the uber nits.

Did you have any reads/stats on him?

Call on direct odds (2.9 -1 pot odds) 4224 into a 12,366 pot
Call on Implied odds (8.0-1 implied odds) 4224 into a 12,366 pot +(21652) H's stack

If my math is correct (which it may not be) it's a marginal call. But V has the stack to make those types of calls.

Yeah I don't think a shove is always a necessity when you still have 24 BB. I like your 3bet OK, but the main thing a shove does it that it guarantees that you see all five cards, and aren't forced to CBet on missed flops (which will be the majority of your flops). That or he just folds and you pick up a his raise and the blinds.

AK is obviously a very good hand to shove with, but as played I don't think you are ever even considering folding. You flopped an A with AK, it's pretty much what you're playing the hand for. Besides getting 10-J-Q there isn't much more you can ask for.

thanks for the responses guys, appreciate the input. I can see not everyone agrees what to do - jam or 3b smallish, so I guess neither option is bad.

Actually I would 3-bet a bit bigger to leave yourself with around a pot-sized shove on the flop. If you 3b to 8000 you create a pot of around 21k and you'll have around 20k behind.

I would 3 bet somewhere between 5100- 6100 his range is wide from that position and he would fold a lot of hands( I'm assuming that you want him calling)unless you have a read on him that he is a player that like to take risks ( he is) but it's not a big consideration.. Anyway thanks for posting the hand
