Not a fan of leading on flop, the board is dry and you instantly folding out weaker pairs also you want some pot control in case he has miracle AK, so I like checking to see what he does, raising weak bets to build a bigger pot and protect our hand and just flating stronger ones. As played, I would bet a little bit more on turn to set up a nicer shove on river.

This early in the tourny I look more to build chips and win a pot or to but not necessarily double up. I like a check back on the river, and possibly even check back turn as well.

C/C the flop. Pretty good spot for MP1 to C-bet a wide range and you're just folding out a bunch of air by leading. Wouldn't raise because the flop is dry so the range of worse hands that can get it in is pretty small. C/C let's him continue with worse or hero call a river lead if the turn does Check, check.

Everything else seems fine given that we don't think a random can fold an A on the river. Need to bet more on the turn to set up the river bet though.

I'd reraise pre vs the minraise.
Don't mind the flop lead, but then I'd probably go for a CR on the turn.

3bet pre is pretty bad imo... Playing AQ OOP with a big pot is just nasty.

c/c flop is nice here because it's so dry. If I did bet, id probably bet a bit smaller tho...

If villain had made a standard raise then I'd agree, and depending on villain I might even fold to a standard raise. But the minraising range for a random in early levels of play is crushed by AQ, so I'd be happy getting more chips in pre, even if I'm OOP. The only time it gets a bit tricky is if villain calls the RR and then the c-bet, and you don't hit (which combined happens a very small % of the time)

I think it probably happens a lot more than you'd expect...

More importantly... your AQ isn't going to hit the flop very often, and then you are likely going to be leading a 1/2 pot bluff bet on the flop... If your goal is essentially never to get to showdown (except for those times that you do actually catch a hand), then you should be willing to make that same pf 3bet/flop cbet line with ATC. You have already essentially turned the AQ into a bluff and at that point your actual cards no longer matter.

Just because I know the results of the hand, I know this is not true.

And I still have no idea why people would check back this turn?

It usually is tho... try not to be results oriented just because it happened this 1 hand

This is the correct answer.

I think that's not a great play as we lose a ton of value. The turn card changes nothing in this case so if you check back turn you might as well fold the flop as you are assuming you have a worse hand than villain on the flop and the turn right?
