when you make a bet that commits you to the pot you want to bet an amount that gives them both the wrong express odds and the wrong implied odds to call given that you are putting the rest of your stack in on the river regardless. its slightly different if you feel that betting can fold out hands that beat you but generally this isnt the case in tournaments as people cant make big laydowns. if you are behind it doesnt matter as you are going to lose your stack anyway so focus on betting an amount that will give hands that need to draw out on you the wrong odds to call and hit a card on river and then stack you.
