openraiser is raising 100%, caller is a donk and instacalled so i think he's strong, BUT since i have more chips than him here can i call to make him have to win a 3way pot to cash? all i need to cash is for one of the two of us others to win the hand....

on the other hand if he wins i get 4th obv. but if i fold he still wouldve won and id be megashorty with three pretty big stacks...

Button: t6910
SB: t1260

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is BB with 2♠ Q♥
UTG folds, Button raises all-in t6910, SB calls all-in t1060, Hero?

Somebody could run the math I guess but it looks like an instamuck to me.

The idea is fine but you need a hand with some sort of real potential.

Hard decision imo, If Hero mucks, He is left with a stack of 935 chips and next round you would have to post 200 chips..
Your putting 935 to win 2720, your getting 3 : 1. And I guess your equity here isnt more than 21-25% so its kinda -ve to neutral spot.I think I'd fold here since you will have 900 left next round and if you fold it you'll have 700.And if BTN wins a pot you gaurantied 3rd place and playing with your chips or 1st or 2nd then you can shove w/e.

because my goal is to make sb's chance of winning that hand as small as possible. if i fold and sb wins im basically automatically 4th anyway.

Incorrect. I just won one yesterday from 120 chips or whatever, and you'd be in much better shape than that. It doesn't take much to get right back in it, no sense giving away equity unnecessarily.

Again, your basic idea is solid, but you need some kind of real hand to make it work IMHO.

I think this line of thought is ok, but when you're calling with a deuce in your hand, you are increasing the chance of 'automatically 4th anyway when sb wins' more than you are decreasing the chance of sb winning. You are also going to come solidly in third more often, where other times you can probably find a more +ev spot to get yoru chips in - both when sb wins this pot and when he does not. If sb loses here, i would rather shove bvb next hand vs hopefully 1 opponent, than the alternatives which are:
- sb triped up, we got crippled trying to make him beat 2 players with a deuce in our hand
- sb doubled up, we can still double up and be right there with him
- sb bustoed, but so did we in the process
- We hit our deuce, but avoided the 12 or less (or more) cards our opponents couldh ave drawn out on us with

I think we can just share queens or be up against pairs here enough that it isnt worth calling with a hand so weak guaranteed to show vs two opponents on the bubble, especially when we can double up and be still competing with sb

Can someone run calcs on this with Q2o, 78s, KQ, Ace small suited, pocket deuces and other random hands if interested? With button on 100% and sb on maybe 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%?

calling with top 35% is -0.4 ish if we put him on 15% and bu on 90%. nash says to call with Q9s.
