I don't think this is a standard, nor is it a donkey play. Also, I don't have any reads on the SB or BB at this point.

Full Tilt Poker $20 + $2 Sit & Go No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t40/t80 Blinds - 6 players

MP: t3890
CO: t850
Hero (BTN): t1270
SB: t4510
BB: t2230
UTG: t750

Pre Flop: Hero is BTN with T J
3 folds, Hero calls t80, blinds left to act...

blinds are high(ish) never limp. fold or raise w/o a read. a raise commits yourself, but a raise can be justified (200) if the blinds are tight nits. w/o reads, fold. save your chips. you have enough to conserve w/o taking marginal risks.

I don't really like it, but it's good that you're thinking about this stuff to some extent....there is a fine line between unusual and FPS. In the archives somewhere, Raptor made a great post about open limping the button. I'm not at home now and don't have time to find it, but someone should go digging and re-post here, perfect thread for it.

i think it's a poor play especially since you have no reads on the blinds. very rarely i open limp the button but generally it sucks because they can raise you and you have to fold, and you give them a free look at the flop and you can get into messy postflop spots.

Limp is practically giving away chips cause it's only jack high so you might as well raise.

You can raise with any two on button if BB folds to most c-bets.

Folding is fine for a little while but we have to steal one every orbit and this one isn't bad.

If you've never played with the villains before, I'd say it's on the wrong side of FPS. If I see multiple-limpers coming into me late in position and the pot is worth stealing, I'll try and grab it. I think limping is a mistake. Dunno what it is of late, but I've seen so much limping that Stars / FTP could hire a physiotherapist!

If you have a strong hand, you don't want to play a 4, 5 or 6-way pot. If you have a possible draw (and this one isn't even suited), you'd have to fold to a substantial reraise.

In this case, you have no information about your opponents who significantly outchip you at this point.

good point, we don't want to create a 6way pot here from the button, therfore limping is bad.
