I recently restarted doing NL SnGs and i'm curious how i should interpret interpret the Button calling 40% of his stack in this position. No good read on him, but he hadn't done anything bad. I also hadn't noticed him smooth calling raises, previously.

I read his call as being extremely strong as he had pretty much pot-committed himself. Thus, i talked myself into a fold. The table had become pretty tight, so i thought i didn't need to take a risk here. As it turned out, i had him dominated and his play won him a nice large pot.

Given the chipstacks above, for what level blinds would you fold, call, or re-raise? If the blinds were 150/300, i would have pushed without a good read.

Also, how would your answer change for different buy-ins?

Later, the Button went on a 5+ minute tirade about my suckitude after, with four left and 200/400 blinds, i called his SB-push of 1690 chips with T7s and 1760 chips (stacks before posting). Second place had 2180 and was playing tight.

+1 to being a donk. Most likely explanation is that he thought it was time for unspoken colluding vs the allin. Try to factor in his earlier play when you're figuring this out.

Perhaps i was a donkey. My main question is what kind of hand range should i expect a random $22 or $33 Turbo SnG player to have there, assuming i have no other reads.

Generally, if it's a good or tricky player only calls there, he probably does have a monster. Of course, if the Button was extremely tricky and smart, he'd realize that i'd be highly suspicious of the smooth call and misread his hand. In that case, he made a fantastic play.

As i found out, he wasn't very good, so my fold was incorrect. I'm trying to learn how to optimize my play against sub-optimal opps.

I was more referring to the Big Stack BB flat call behind.

A reg would most likely have shoved from the button. I would need a note that Button is flatting this spot with a monster before I could even consider a fold. Readless I am shoving this.

Oh right, i forgot about that. The BB had been very passive while making big calls before that. Making huge calls is how he made his stack in the first place.

That said, the BB should have bet out on the Turn. Even if the Button was rational and started with a monster, he would've bet the Flop to protect his hand and take the huge pot. Once the BB decided he could afford to call pre-flop, he could afford the isolation play on the Turn.

Thanks for the feedback.
